Hey this is a pretty fun and cool idea! I assume once you set your pledge amounts it’s locked in for the year?
That’s correct! So if you’re worried that our DL is going to go wild and run up your tab, you can start with a low number on the pledge per. Then, selfishly, I would encourage fans to evaluate the number at the end of the year and consider ‘rounding up’ on the pledge.
Let’s say you did $1 per sack for example (you can enter the number of your choosing on each section), and we rack up thirty on the year. You’d be on the hook for a $30 gift. Then your friendly, neighborhood Associate Athletic Director may encourage you to consider rounding up to $40, $50, or whatever number you had mentally budgeted for at the beginning of the season.
Every dollar helps lift Cougar Pride so we’re grateful for every pledge – big and small.

This is something I was pondering a few weeks ago. Could it be something that UH does? I know Okie Lite was doing something where you could reward each individual player for their efforts. Glad to see something like this finally showing up, especially since in previous years, the only communication I’d get from athletics EVER was the R12E emails after every win. They also looked bland lol.
Another random question is a 50/50 charity raffle. 50% goes to the winner, the other 50% goes to Cougar Pride. I saw an article online where people who weren’t even at the game were able to participate, which is kinda weird but okay.
Would these pledge projects also apply to other sports? If they’re tax deductible or so, some might just drop a few bucks on say a winning soccer, baseball, or softball program and write it off.
I used to send Cougar Pride the difference of the score of each win at the end of the year. I went with wins and forced turnovers this time.

Also submitted a pledge. It was quite a different feeling watching the couple of almost interceptions last night. And one could have been a pick 6. And then 2 later in the game. Then no sacks and the 2 sacks back to back. All good feelings though.

I applaud UH for trying something new for fan donations and hope the “Pledge Per” Campaign is a smashing success. I know that it will appeal to many fans. Unfortunately, it is not my cup of tea.
I don’t intend for this to sound self-righteous, or sappy, but I donate to UH for the love of the university and UH sports, not for wins or losses or individual achievements. My donations are not contingent on certain events. I have donated in great years and donated in miserable years. Actually, I felt better donating in down years, knowing UH needed it more when donations would slip if the program was down.
But that is just me. Different strokes for different folks.

I fundamentally agree with you JL Coog, but I like the creativity of the program. I hope it engages the fans who have not contributed before and opens new avenues for giving. I am almost 67 and have given for years like you have, but there are too few of us out there.
Any money that it raises will help the sports programs and that is ok with me.

I would say to you both @SBCoog and @JLCoog, don’t participate in the campaign. Just be sure not to inadvertently discourage anyone from participating or to talk down on anyone participating because I guarantee anyone who is participating and donating is doing so for the same reasons you do. They just found a different avenue to make donations, possibly one that either is more budget friendly to them or just otherwise engages them as a participant. You may feel this program is beneath you or the participants aren’t as pure of heart as you are, but keep in mind while posting what can seem as your righteous indignation about the program, it can also seem like you’re pissing on those who take part. I don’t believe that is your intention, but each of your posts do carry the scent of elitism.

We have too many who criticize from the back row and never crack open the checkbook. Yes, the checkbook was a real thing before Venmo and Zelle.
