Coog fans, go check out a thread I made trying to get an idea of what the fans want our colors to be outside of the primary red and white. I love the throwback era navy blue as an accent color if we had that in all sports, but then I also love the idea of following the Fertitta Center and TDECU (Space City Financial) stadium colorway of red and white with a mixture of grays, light gray and a dark charcoal gray like the 2016 unis vs Louisville. Then there’s the newer Houston blue that I was a big promoter for, but I’m starting to feel iffy on. All these colors have had good and bad days for UH, but I feel like we are in an important time where UH can cement itself as a big name brand with basketball and football on the rise, and we need to put things like this into stone instead of flipping back and forth week by week. Lmk what you guys think either here or on X
This is my color room. Similar to your 3rd, the gray is matched to the gray in the bevel on the bevel logo. I like the light blue, but as a full alternative and not an accent. I feel we try to behave like most pro teams with lots of variety less reliance on tradition. We don’t have a fan base that allows the athletic department to produce red polos with little white UHs and make millions in merch year over year, we need to keep it spicy. I expect some new logos in the fall with space theming relating to the changing of the TDECU’s name.
This one gets my vote!!!
My vote is option 1. Like it or not, it’s where we’re going anyways. We can do better with streamlining and be more consistent to make everyone a little happier.
Option 2 is basically what we have now minus the blues.
Throwbacks and black alternates aren’t going away and Houston blues are here to stay. As far as fan engagement, national attention, merch revenue Houston blues have been massively successful. It’s really just our version of a “city connect” or color rush uniform like every MLB, NBA, NFL team wears.
Every franchise in Houston does a light blue now. It wouldn’t make much sense for UH to opt out now, especially right after launching a new $1B campaign that relies heavily on city partners.
Teams have game themes the Texans have one for every game its no different its just one game we wear the blue jerseys. The baseball team wore blue a lot back during the Noble years and we didn’t hear this much whining from the fanbase.
