UH Transfer portal news 2026

That’s correct. He’s the E.F. Hutton of Cougar sports recruiting. (Old guys will get it)

8 more days until the portal closes.

Expect the unexpected (good and/or bad) :smiling_imp:

So 10 of our 11 guys starting on offense could be portal guys? It’s like HS recruiting doesn’t even matter anymore.

Yeah who cares about that Henderson guy

As long as we get better year to year I don’t give a damn where the players come from!

Good size but his stats aren’t really lighting the world on fire. He didn’t do anything against us when we played them.

I think we’ll miss Carlos Allen. You usually don’t get that kind of production from a nose tackle. These 350 lbs plus guys just fill the gap

With those dimensions, you worry if he is simply a stationary target with very little athleticism. I trust that the coaching staff will do their due diligence.

Well, he’s the No. 1 player in the country. He’s in a category by himself.

The HS kids that want to redshirt, get bigger, stronger , learn the system and aren’t afraid to compete stick around and you don’t have to hit the portal as much.

The ones that want instant gratification get bitter and hit the portal because they don’t want to compete….then you find yourself having to add an entire position group.

So HS recruiting does matter, but you have to have kids that have the right mindset.

So, we lost some good guys to graduation, but the ones we lost to the portal were either Dana’s guys, or “bodies” that Fritz got when he first got here late. Those transfers out guys have been replaced by upgrades. Am I seeing it correctly?

That’s correct. Only Platt, Burnette and Pancake were significant contributors.

J’Marion Burnette, a running back for the Houston Cougars, had 28 carries for 82 yards (2.9 AVG) in 2025

I’m sorry, but pancake was not a significant contributor, and that’s the second time I have seen that said on here.

He was a significant problem on our line.

Agree all 3 losses were targeted contributers… certainly not primary players.
