Somebody posted about potential DL transfers in the 2026 recruiting thread, but I feel like that info will get lost in the sauce of high school kids we are still trying to sign. Please allow this thread to exist for compartmentalization purposes.
Joshua Donald is hitting the portal. Never heard of the guy but apparently he was playing here. Will be onto his 5th school
Never played a down here and not sure he even attended a practice.
It looks like we kicked tires on a few JUCO DLs but either didn’t pull the trigger or didn’t think the ROI was good for what they were asking.
On the topic of transfer portal DLs, I remembered a interview with DC Austin Armstrong during the early season bye week. He spoke very highly of DL, Q. Lee who was injured at the time. AA expected him to have an impact on the defense when he was able to return. I don’t recall him getting any playing time this year. What is his status? I think he was a senior, but did he maybe redshirt due to the injury? Will he be part of our DL in 2026?
If you go back eons our program has hit on some phenomenal JUCO’s. I think the portal has muted that to a degree.
He was listed as #95 in preseason, but didn’t show up in the the stats that listed every player whether they played and his name isn’t on the list. I don’t know if he was still on the team after the season started. Even if he were, it’s no loss at all.
What are the chances of us landing of Jelani Watkins from LSU, Houston (Atascocita) kid? A speedster which we really need to stretch defenses and a track star who ran 10.02 in the NCAA 100m finals.
He would be a win-win for football and track. He would be catching bombs on the upward trending hometown football team and he would star for the Speed City track team. I would imagine both Fritz and Lewis would be thrilled to have him.
I hate to ask… but is weigman going to transfer or try and go pro with Henderson coming in?

Regarding turning pro, alot the INTs he had late in the season. NFL scouts wont like that. Had a good yr, continue to work on his mobility as a passer. Against pressure, at times he struggled
Weigman as your starter next yr, probably the easiest question going into the off season
The absolute best scenario for everyone invested in Houston Football would be Conner Weigman returning for his Senior season and leading us to our first B12 Championship and 1st College Football Playoff appearance while allowing Keisean Henderson to gain an entire year of conditioning, practice reps, playbook learning and being mentored by a season vet former 5 star all while maintaining all 4 years of eligibility. Unleashing Keisean Henderson against LSU in NRG is the dream scenario
There’s a possibility that we will be unleashing Weigman against LSU in NRG this month.
BTW, who will be coaching LSU in it’s bowl game?

Weigman ain’t going anywhere. He has a wonderful girlfriend down the road and their relationship is close. He has the autonomy to run or pass in many situations. He’s on a winning team. He’s the field general and on-field leader of our program. Hell, he’s the face of our program.
