Some people will complain because they are a FCS school. I have no issue with this as they have a quality program, easy road trip and their fan base will show up so sell out is likely.

That’ll be cool. My dad and cousin are both Sam grads. I even went there for a semester before I was asked to leave.

That was a yuracheck thing…every program in the country basically plays an fcs school every year or every other one.
Grew up in Huntsville. Attended Sam for a couple of years before transferring to Cullen. Will always love the Bearkats! Good matchup for both teams. Gotta be careful, though…could be a trap game considering how the Bearkats usually have a very potent offense.

I always like this series. Good warm up game, but I just hope we don’t load all our OOC games against FCS opponents.
I’m not so sure thats a gimmie. I’m not even sure I’d call that a warm up game. SHSU is 100% going to come in ready to win.

If you beat the best FCS team, you still beat an FCS team.
If you lose to the best FCS team, you still lost to an FCS team.
I know I’ll catch heat for saying this, but this is very much an all-risk, no-reward move. Would much rather play TSU or HBU, given the choice.

I begged for Coach Keeler to improve his defensive recruiting to compete against JMU & NDSU. Over the last 2-3 yrs he did plus getting couple defensive transfers from TxTech & Baylor helped tremendously. Result-- Natl Ship past season.
Ranked #1 in all FCS POLLS coming into 2021 as they return big part of last yrs team.
This will be tough for me … psshh and my wife–Masters from SHSU. She’s turned into big Coog fan over last 10+ yrs, esp Basketball team–Season tiks – she loves everything abt CKS and what he represents .
Tough tough but I know where my rooting will be for valid reasons.

In defense of this move, though, there is a solid chance that Sam goes FBS before 2028.

Another excellent point. Things are in the works, but lot has to go into it to be granted FBS status. If it was only you need to have very good Football program they would have been FBS abt 6-8 yrs ago. Fritz got it going n Coach Keeler has done excellent job esp once he spoke to the fan base n said they needed to improve their Recruiting on Defense side of the ball.
So far now it’s #GoCoogs #EatEmUpKats
