Ok i love these. BUT my 7 year old is attending his first game at TDECU on Saturday and is so confused that we’re now cheering for the blue team.
Who cares, he’ll get used to it!
This is a unique, fresh idea that no other university has tried. And it’s working…UH is the talk of national media. This is a home run!
Now, what game will they debut?

I wonder what the Texans think of this…
UH pulled off what we couldn’t.
That is exactly why they would get excited.
It’s like the old Astros uniforms. When we were kids, we all hated it. Then around 2014 I started seeing young people wearing Astros throwback gear in New York!! I am talking about the old orange striped crazy uniforms we had from the early 80’s.
Same thing with the old Rockets gear. Mustard and Red.
When I wear my Oilers hat, strangers give me fist bumps. Some dude shouted out “Luv Ya Blue” at me at the Mall.
It’s wild man.
Now we need luv ya blue poms poms like that awesome Monday night game against the Dolphins.

Great point.
The unis look ok, but the gimmick criticism is right on-point. This is decades behind schedule and ultimately pointless. I can’t even remember when the Oilers left Houston. And, how does it reflect on the Texans…? Not well… If you want to do it, do it against SH as others have mentioned.
If the first game as a Big12 school can stand on its own, the football program is in bad shape.
But… as been said many times in many places, winning solves everything.
Why does it not reflect well on the Texans? What do they have to do with what UH does?
This is a better time to do it because San Antonio is a rival Texas city, what do we have in common with Sam Houston other than the name?
Might as well tweak the song to fit while we are at it:
'Cause we’re the Houston Cougars, Houston Cougars, Houston Cougars, Number One.
Yes, we’re the Houston Cougars, Houston Cougars, Houston Cougars, Number One…
UH going out of its way to celebrate a team from the past that abandoned the city, instead of choosing to celebrate the team that’s here?
To me, it looks like a snub. Maybe it doesn’t matter, but it is an interesting gimmick, with interesting timing, and probably could have been thought-out a bit better.
These uniforms on holloween would make a hell of a lot more sense.
bizarre statement, we’re paying homage to the city of HOUSTON
Black is reserved for Halloween, everyone knows this lol
Luv Ya Coogs!!!
Ours look so much better, everything thing about our just pop
I like them. The negativity surrounding the athletic department’s effort to try to do something to get attention and create some marketing is pretty sad.
I was hoping 1976 style but this will be cool and fun for the players and city.
I guess I have to realize we’re cutting edge like Oregon
My choice would be go with red and white only and stick with it but we’re houston trying to be modern or something.
All I know is we better win if we’re doing this.
