University of Houston Breaks Ground on $77.5M Medical Research Building

Looks like it will only be a 3 story building. With limited space around the medical college, I hope it’s not regretted for not going bigger. Still, good to see it happening.

57000 square feet seems like a decent amount of space.

There is plenty of space around the med school. The master plan map shows that they have plans for more buildings there.

may take 20 years, but coog med facilities will be a big effing deal for UH.

Not in my opinion from a long term view. There will need to be parking garages added over there too at some point. Same
problem we now have on the central part of the main campus. Lower density buildings are being replaced per the master plan. 3 level buildings should be the absolute minimum going forward.

Note the original Optometry building is planned to be replaced too.

Accounting for the College’s enrollment ramp-up period, by FY 2029, the College of Medicine will have produced more than 400 physicians, a number of whom are expected to remain in the region. Every year thereafter, more than100 graduates will be produced

Still waiting to hear back on the final accreditation review. The LCME is supposed to make its final decision this month. I sure hope we get word by Halloween that full accreditation for the Med School is approved!
