We’re still steadily moving on up.

That TCU jump just seems beyond belief, not that I’m digging at TCU but just the size of the jump. Like were they just completely underrated before? How do you make such a leap?

Not bad for a commuter school.

Well, we are still ahead of TCU, so why complain?

I’m not complaining, just questioning.

The University of Houston is on the move in the latest Forbes rankings of America’s Top Colleges for 2026, rising three spots to No. 43 among public universities. While UH’s institutional vision remains to be ranked among the top 50 public universities by U.S. News & World Report, recognition by Forbes is a strong indicator of UH’s growing national prominence.

“This latest ranking demonstrates the University of Houston’s commitment to student success and world-class academic programs. Inclusion in Forbes’ list of America’s Top Colleges is yet another accolade we can be very proud of and a reminder of UH’s momentum as a premier public university.”

— Diane Z. Chase, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost

Not bad for a crappy, low return ROI, non traditional, first gen alumni, commuter school.

Seems rather obvious that the rise of UH in those rankings is a direct result of changes brought about by Renu Khator…and her movement of UH toward a more traditional student body.

AAU is our goal and Mrs. Khator can do it.

Yet we are doing this with a commuter labeled school. Don’t let labels define you. And there a a choice few posters here that keep calling us a commuter school.

Yes, as we move to become MORE of a Traditional Campus…our ratings improve.

It’s not Rocket Science, Norbert, its a simple cause and effect as I and others continue to try to get through your thick skull

Dr Khator has been consistent with that vision for 20 years .

We aren’t spending millions to create outdoor gathering spaces for our 24/7 resident students to remain at a commuter school.

We are actively becoming a Traditional School.

Too bad if you hate the move but it’s happening!
