Uzan has his own decisions to make, but getting as much information as possible will help him. However, from the way he looked at times this year, another season under Sampson should raise his stock, especially if he can improve his shot.
Uzan was at 1.4 his first year at OU, though he improved to 2.2 his second year.
I have concerns about Pop as a primary PG, but I wouldnât put too much stock in his ATO over his first 8 games this year. Heâs just a different kind of guard than Uzan, and his numbers look more like Cryerâs at Baylor.
I have faith that heâll turn the ball over far less at Houston.
ExactlyâŠand Cryer isnât a pg.
But one of the reasons Cryer came here was to work on PG skills.
Iâm not gonna worry about it. Sampson ainât giving the ball to a PG who turns it over. Just not going to happen.
From your keyboard to the good lordâs ears. ![]()
Howâd that work out for him? He ended up being a sg.
uzan didnt have a rep of ball protection before UHâŠnot as bad as pop, but it wasnt good.
it was a strength here for uzanâŠit wont be an issue for isaacs
i have my issues with pop⊠playmaking isnât one of them
ill even do a hot take ⊠if milos is gone, pops per 40 asts will be higher than milos
dejon was on roster with shead and galenâŠnot sure i agree with this take, maybe if we are talking exclusively their ability to score
he still developed his playmaking ability despite never being a lead guard and became an all-american so its not all gloom lol
Well, he was 3rd Team AA this year, so thatâs pretty good, right? His ATO improved significantly, so he accomplished that objective. He didnât come here to BE a PG - Shead was already here.
If you want to curl up in a ball and fret over Popâs turnovers playing for Sampson, I guess thatâs your prerogative. History says youâd be wrong, but whatever.
ââŠdo not see his game changing much.â
Mean he could improve but not drastically. He reinforced what he already could do in Houston. Similar to Grimes. Small details he could incorporate. I do not see why he needs a whole college season to do that.
Lol.
Thatâs your projection and I hope you are correct. Heâs certainly not proven though. His demonstrated results have been very bad. Uzanâs ast/to his last year at ok was way better than any of Pops seasons.
We need to be better on offense. We need to get some easy hoops. We have to work way too hard for our scores. One way to do that is to run if the opportunity presents itself. Another is to penetrate and get easy shots at the rim for our bigs. Flemings gives us the best chance to do that.
Iâll even go farther. Iâd like us to be bigger and not undersized for a change. Play Harwell too. Our defense is always going to be good because of the system. Itâs better than the individual parts. We have a stud recruiting class. Use them and let them grow. They have a hugh ceiling and they wonât be here long. Might as well use them. Kentucky ( AD team) and Duke ( Okafor team) won national titles while starting 3 freshman. Why canât we do it?
We are talking about pg skills. Cryer didnât play pg here because he wasnât good at it. Wilson was our backup pg.
Cryer has a good season but not as a pg - which is the discussion.
Shead and Galen didnât overlap. Definitely think Isaacs/Kingston is more talented than Dejon/Galen. As for Dejon/Shead we hardly received any contribution from Shead the one year he was on the roster with Dejon. Maybe you could argue it with who he became not who he was a freshman imo.
Pop issacs strength is scoring & shooting looking at his box score last season in Creighton. Him playing pg he would have to feed others first before looking for his shot. I think he becomes more dangerous being the secondary ball handler were he just focus on getting his offense going and being more of a connector. If shot aint falling become the pg then.
This is from the latest Yahoo NBA Mock DraftâŠâŠposting because itâs the first one Iâve seen Milos projected in round one.
FWIW
A whole season in between to boot ![]()

Heâs projected in the 2nd but it only takes one team to like you enough to take you higher. It happens most every year.
