Veterans should have a veterans administration ID card issued shortly after the time of separation. I have that and I also still have my last ID card which was a reserve card. When I was in, we all had a total of 6 years obligation, 4 years active, but when your hitch was over, you were assigned to the inactive reserve for the rest of your 6 years.
Every now and then I look at my old ID just to remind myself I used to be young once. But I have used it for military and veterans discounts on various things. I get $15/month discount from Verizon for being a vet.
Thank you; but it was a priviledge and honor to be able to serve my country. I am greatful the Navy gave me that honor after being turned down by the USMC because of flat feet.
Thanks for the info everyone. I salute all the veterans.
I did not see anything on the website but I do remember seeing that ad listed above. I wish the website had the info. Oh well now I have an extra ticket.
To all my fellow Cougar veterans:
I have my veteran status on my drivers license. I took my DD 214 down to DPS and got it on there. I am pleasantly surprised at all the places that offer a military discount. It’s pretty cool actually.
I honor those that served. I wanted to but my asthma kept getting in the way.
I was a telephone lineman/repairman for 3 decades. But there are no discounts for the pre-responders–the guys who maintained the network that allowed first responders to know when and what to respond to.
