I guess I have never had a very favorable opinion of the guy. It goes back to his days at Manvel HS. His late father broke the rules and told the UIL that they lived in the district but they did not. He should have never been allowed to play there.
That’s a bad take.
Oh really? Tune might have something to say about that with 20 wins his last 2 years here…/Thats Tune with a T. and next year, its going to be Henderson with an H…
Agreed. He had one good year before he bailed on UH.
Basically John O’Korn +
You can probably guess by my avatar that Danny Davis is my favorite UH QB of all time. He was the QB my freshman year, our first year in the SWC, and ran the veer as well as any QB since Moon Mullins. That season was akin to a holy crusade as we took vengeance on the schools that had kept us down for so long, winning the SWC in our first year of competition.
He’s also the only UH quarterback to win multiple conference titles in a major conference, though of course none had a chance to do that for a long time after the breakup of the SWC.
I hope we see a UH QB win multiple Big 12 titles one day.
He was a great leader and made many clutch plays. It was certainly a different time in terms of the nature of college offenses, and I absolutely love Keenum, Ware and all the others, but Danny Davis should certainly be mentioned in a discussion of the top QBs in University of Houston history.
Well said!
Jimmy Klingler was a good QB, but not nearly as good as his older brother David Klingler who really lit it up.
My first year at UH as well. Was a great start to joining the conference in football. Danny Davis was a wizard in the veer.
Why are so

He gave a nod to old tyme BYU, that was cool
No doubt 76! Danny was a great veer QB and led us to 2 SWC championships and playing in the Cotton Bowl. So much fun beating our SWC rivals, especially Longhorn, Aggie and Red Raider…
