Watched the 66-15 Beat down

I honestly think that was the day the defense jelled. Going off the top of my head, UT is up 37-17 at one point (how can that be the defense jelling right?) and after that Johnny Jackson and the defense had 4 pick sixes for almost 200 yards total. Over the next 26 games under Pardee, our defense held the opponent under 16 points 15 times. A huge accomplishment for a team known nationally for it’s offense.

Pardee had a very good defensive staff and when combined with the defensive talent that Yeoman had recruited, it became a very powerful defensive team.

Jim Eddy was a great DC.

Love that game. It was my freshman year at UH and my first road game. What a butt kicking.

I remember that Saturday being hot as heck and it was Parents Weekend at UT. Sat in the east stands with some UT friends of mine from high school, wearing my UH tee and ball cap around the 30 yard line (on the north side of the field).

After the game I caught some grief from the mic man at GM Steakhouse while walking along Guadalupe.

It was fun in the Fall of '88.
