To be fair those rankings are influenced by rankings throughout the season regardless of what they say they are or aren’t influenced by
I am shocked we got 5 votes considering we have beat 3 bad teams. Notre Dame still beimg ranked is pretty much normal they will beat a service academy next game and be back in the top 15.
I’m not sure that our worst win isn’t better than Tech’s best win.
Our ranking is less about who we e played than it is about last year and the perception that created about this year.
I guess we will see but Tech was getting a lot of run pre season as a potential conference champ and we were getting hype to be a 4-5 win type team thats the reason they are ranked and we are barely getting votes.
So you’re agreeing with me?
Pretty much but Oregon State is the best team they played by a long shot and they don’t seem very good at all. I hope we stomp them in 2 weeks.
Tech has Utah next week so this will be their first test of the season. They started at a 23 and 3 blowouts against dregs and they have only moved up to 17 so I don’t think the pollsters are too sold on them yet.
JESUS! Colorado is NOT a bad team. They went 9-3 last year. They had lost one game when we played them…by 3 points to a very good Georgia Tech team.
This always happens to us.
Reality is rankings are meaningless until the first CFP poll comes out.
Ex: 0-2 ND is ranked and 2-1 USF is unranked
Sagarin rates their sos at 254th in the country. Thats behind every fbs and FCs program except Tennessee Tech, Bethune Cookman, and Marist. Obviously that’ll change as they hit conference play but their non-conference slate was a joke.
Is Rice a really bad team? They did beat the SBC preseason favorite in week 1. Not saying they’ll win the AAC or anything but I think they’ll at least be in a bowl and be competitive in league. Colorado has some question marks but having watched some of the teams in the B12, I feel confident they’re far from the worst.
ULL has a win over McNeese and a loss to Rice and a curb stomping against Missouri.
Rice has a close win against ULL and a closer than it should have been game vs PV.
They were up on PV by 28 with 2 minutes to go. A late TD cut it to a 21 point lead. Not really that close in my book. And again we’ll see how Louisiana’s season turns out but they were tabbed as the SBC preseason favorite. I’d say going on the road in week 1 with a new HC and beating them is a quality win.
It looks like it’s working out for them. Didn’t they get absolutely embarrassed by Abilene Christian last year? I get that their opponents have not been great, but their defensive starters have allowed 0 points through three quarters in each of their last 3 games.
By our standards, “competitive but non-contending in the AAC” describes a bad team. Generally, I’d expect a Big 12 team to beat such a team relatively comfortably.
An 8 or 9 win team isn’t going to win the AAC. But it’s also not a bad team. I’d say it’s a decent or average team. Not sure what the obsession with trying to trash our wins is about but whatever.
TT vs Utah should be interesting. Even if tech loses , they are likely still ranked when they play us.
ND being winless and still ranked is a joke. That ranking is solely based on brand status and roster ratings.
The initial rankings are just for media scheduling purposes only it seems.
I can’t remember if they lost to ACU last year. They do look great, I’m just suggesting that they didn’t have any inertia from last years season that would warrant a ranking this year. It was all because of their transfer class. But, it’s absolutely working for them.
JESUS! Colorado lost ALOT from that “NOT a bad team” and did not replace them particularly well and they lost by 7, not 3 to Georgia Tech.
Tech’s schedule has been softer than a warm marshmallow.
