I have been to plenty of games at the Coliseum or the Rose Bowl at that same time. Not only is it brutal but indeed dangerous. You can put as much sunscreen as you want it does not help. You add the fact that is highly congested there is very little air. The Rose Bowl is the worst. The stadium seats in a canyon. You are grilled and skewered at the same time. All Southern California games like Houston or DFW games between 12 and 3 is complete disregard to the schools fans. espn does not care. They have filled their time slot. I pointed this out a few times. espn wants to put games at a certain time? All other teams within these leagues should have to deal with the same conditions. I have played soccer in Southern California, Houston with these conditions and have played in bitter cold. Summer games are far worse, much worse.
that is season tickets and single game sales, not rears in the stadium.
Yall better get broke in!
When the state sets rules for practice temps, but for tv dollars it gets tossed out the window, that seems like someone will find themselves in court in the future.
I think that’s (wetglobe) for high school only isn’t it?
It is. The state isn’t governing what kind of heat adults spend their time in.
Given the state of college athletics and courtrooms, I sure wouldn’t rule out somebody suing for something related to weather at sporting events.
What I thought, I should have said public schools instead of high school but yeah
Yea, that’s how I remember it being in high school during preseason practices late 60s to 1970 in Houston.
We definitely followed whatever the wet globe rule is. We also had iced water Camelbacks built into our pads.
I didn’t really think anything about it back then. If you wanted to play you did what was expected.
But I’m really glad for our children, grand children, etc. that there have been safety measures put in.
The major sports TV networks are like the high school football coaches back then. If you want to play in the game, you do what your TV network tells you. All they care about is winning (aka the money).
I will too and I will be drinking lots of water. We had to move this year because of the students so hopefully we still have the overhang shielding at least some of that sun out. I’m 78 years old but I still want to be there as long as I am able…Go Coogs…
That’s the key, hydrate.
Most importantly, start hydrating at least the day before, so you can have Championship Hydration Levels. I know we give Tom Herman a lot of hell for it, but it’s actually a good chart. Electrolytes don’t hurt either.
Loose long sleeves help, plus a good shady hat, and I like natural fibers myself. Polyester makes me feel 100x hotter.
In fairness they had 51000…I will be happy with 30k Saturday morning…
I feel like the possible heat factor has been completely ignored in this story.
In my day, I always felt bad for the marching band. The football team practiced on grass but the band had to practice on an asphalt parking lot.
Yeah… all it mentions is that he fell down with seizure type convulsions and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
I absolutely agree, this isn’t the 1970s when only 3 games a week were on tv. Now we can watch the games from the comfort of our homes. Would we miss the excitement of being there, yes. We would not miss being in the extreme heat, exorbitant prices for food and drink, drunks starting fights with each other…
Nonsense…They didnt have 15.000 at that game…Most all their season ticket holders look like they took a pass on this one…One whole side of the stadium was virtually empty.
Over/Under on how many posts in GameDay Thread before Attendance Guy posts how much we suck as Fan Base ??? I’m going with 8

My bet is, no one AT the game will be the Attendance Guy on the GameDay thread
Based on a picture of one side pregame, you seem overly sure of your estimate
That USC game photo was during their game (not pregame).
