What a Win over Colorado means for Recruiting…

I wonder how many blue-chip players, especially from the greater Houston area, will see Friday’s game? I would suspect “almost, none”. But… I still think a Win puts the Coogs on their radar and know Willie will be bringing them in for every remaining home game this year. A Winning season could very well help Houston have an unbelievable recruiting class next year…

It’s no secret that Colorado recruits Texas and the Houston area. Its a big game for many reasons but recruiting is definitely one.

Contrarian view: I think for recruits, who wins the game is almost non-relevant. It is about how the recruit gets along with the coaches, quality of facilities, offensive and defensive schemes, how soon the recruit will see playing time, and the ever-present NIL.

Gotta raise the NIL. That’s how you get big time recruits.

JLCoog…I mostly agree with your post, but Colorado is a high profile game with a high profile head coach and winning the game gives confidence to the recruits, fans and media that UH is an up and coming program in the Big 12.

Agree that the coaching staff, facilities, schemes and NIL are important recruiting factors.

Some posters are clinging to an old model of getting recruits. Blue chip recruits have been on teams radars for a while and have already committed. To your point, we want top recruits we need to add more $$ to an offer letter.

I wonder how many will be playing a game themselves Friday night.

Agree 100%, GooseCreekCoog!

My point, exactly… that’s why I said most would not see it. my other point was… they’ll be aware of it. Yes. NIL GREATLY impacts recruiting, but it’s NOT the “be all / end all”. To Win in recruiting, you’ve got to got to hit it from ALL angles. A Win helps expand our Radar. As the season goes on, recruits that are invited to the sidelines for home games will see a team they want to be part of… I MO…

As for the question the thread is about… I do believe it impacts it. The follow on discussion is about… “to what degree”? Do We currently have the highest ranked recruiting class for a long time? 39th? Is it possible with a great season for Willie to work the kinda magic that produces a top 20 class?

Sure those things matter too. But winning big games affects a program in a myriad of ways. Most of which indirectly influence recruiting. Need the W tomorrow.
