What does the AAC do next?

Boise is the king of delaying.

Even if they otherwise might prefer the AAC, Boise is probably willing to accept the risk of ending up in the MWC because it’s not that bad a deal for them. Losing CSU/AFA isn’t that big a deal to them, I am guessing.

This is like a guy that already has a girlfriend and his own truck. He gets offered a job in another town that comes with a new Ford Escape.

Meh…he keeps the girl…and the truck. Because driving a new Ford Escape around Greenville just don’t seem that sexy

They seem totally certain its Boise/Memphis next (2024). Less certain it happens but next up is USF/SMU.

I do know what will happen in 2036…I have 30 million reasons to know what is going to happen in 2036. The ACC is going to die…we can go ahead and eat college football junk food now (boise) or we can wait to eat college football Ribeye steak in 15 years (Miami, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Duke, Louisville, Pitt, Syracuse, Boston College)…well maybe not ribeye…more like stew meat

Hey, college football is a fun subject, and you folks seem to be fine folks to shoot the proverbial $#!+ with.

Re: Dodd

I would be interested in hearing more analysis as to why the MWC would have the inside track, or vice-versa.

Re: Boise/Memphis vs SMU/USF

That doesn’t seem like a close call to me. For little fault of their own, SMU is just not a very attractive candidate. USF might be if they get their act together. Ditto Temple. SMU I think is stuck.

Re: Jersey Guy

I find the line about ESPN’s lack of enthusiasm for CSU/AFA to be interesting.

You would think ESPN wants more late night games.
This week ESPN doesn’t have any games after 9pm est.
Those late games arent ratings stars but its still live sports and crushes game replays and CFB highlight shows they end up showing.

Could just be ESPN setting up the excuses to give the AAC a major cut in pay.

Dont worry, they wont…Pretty sure any rumor bout Boise to Big 12 is started by Boise…Big 12 isnt adding ANYONE unless someone leaves…and i do not think anyone is leaving.

The Big 12 is becoming the AAC

Reading other schools message boards, the Colorado St. fans consider the AAC a lateral move or a downgrade.

Air Force board was more enthusiastic, one mentioning how they could get fans to their out of town games because of USAF bases around some of the schools.

I wonder if AFA considers going without Colorado State.

I think it was reported by a reputable source that an OSU admin went to Boise this week to discuss the B12 and do intel on all their improvements. But seriously it could have been flugar reporting it for all I know. I lost interest recently.

I think it was reported that OSU prez talked to BSU prez when they play against each other couple of weeks ago. Kind of like Boren talked to RK when we play OU in 2016. We all know how that ended.

We just need the tail number from the PAC commissioner’s plane and we’re off to the races.

If that’s true, then the AAC needs to add the best remaining football brands: Louisiana-Lafayette, Coastal Carolina, Liberty, and Appalachian State.

Oof. I had a feeling this might happen. Can’t help but wonder if the next domino is SMU and Memphis to the MWC?

I think the MWC and AAC are at an impasse. CSU and AFA made the decision they did based in no small part on geography and peers. SMU’s peers are in the AAC. I think SMU gives it less consideration than we would if we’d been left behind. (When I was interested in going west with SMU, when I thought it would be Memphis instead of us, I thought SMU reticence was the biggest obstacle and was wondering if maybe we consider going with UTSA.
