WHAT IF…

If the remaining 8 are estimated at 12-15M/school and BYU’s contract is 10 (or less according to some estimates), then that would bring down the per school payout of the Big 12 futures. Does not make BYU a no brainer.

Yes, BYU is already a diva. IMO.

That 2006 Boise State team got jacked out of a natty. I’ll say that till the day I die.

BYU doesn’t want to be in the AAC not the other way around.

All the nonsense histrionics over BYU’s code of conduct is what nixed the first B12 expansion.

The B12 wanted them and probably would have taken us too.

Historically they have turned down in inquiries. They want to be P5 has been their goal and not G5. With P5s going to P4 most likely and that dynamic changing, they may be opened to an evolved AAC conference with Big 12 Leftovers of TT, OSU, Iowa State, Kansas and others with the AAC leading universities.

The Big 12 has always been BYU’s best bet for P5. If the Big 12 goes bye-bye, the next best option is an evolved AAC with former Big 12 players. BYU will not be going to the PAC, too much historical resistance to them and their religious beliefs and code of conduct. The other 3 P4s are probably off the table for them also.

Or they can stay independent and keep their current scheduling model:

  • annual game with Utah among 5-7 other P5 games a year
  • Boise St. annually and Utah State almost annually

Boise State is consistently a winning program, the blue field notwithstanding.

So is Appalachia State.

Maryland and Rutgers didn’t go to the B1G because of their winning records.

Let’s put it this way. I would not be looking forward to a trip to Boise, Idaho, especially anytime after October. A Boise visit to Houston would not require playing at NRG.

They have a fine football program, (but that’s about it, isn’t it?) recently if not historically but I’m not sure how much they would move the needle. They certainly don’t move mine.

There are better options but I don’t pretend to know everything. Just giving my opinion. I’d rather have ULaLa, to be totally honest. More of us there and more of them here, which is what it’s about.

True!

It won’t be easy for AAC or the current state of the Big 12 to hook them. But they have been driving for P5 and they would have taken the Big 12 invite to P5 of a couple years ago. The question that remains is if an expanded Big 12 or an AAC with Big 12 adders is enough to attract them. One key would be would they gain more revenue value in any conference versus their current deal with ESPN. The opportunity will be there if the dollars are right.

Finebaum recently stated that after ND, they are the next big fish to haul in for any conference. The problem is their code of ethics among other Mormon beliefs or initiatives and their no Sunday play.

“Mr. Manager I am correcting an obvious mistake”
“Has this been happening for a while? I encourage you to have a serious talk with your team. UH is not amused at all.”

Ulala will not be in the AAC. Unless Aresco goes on a fourteen-day schnapps binge.

In the current state of affairs I no longer think anyone else is changing conferences in the next 24 months.

Between the B12 and the AAC its a battle of OOC records and rankings. The one that wins that battle will end up raiding the other as 25’ approaches.

wish UH could ride a relevant singular win for 15 years.

Ass stomping Florida State and Oklahoma back to back wasn’t even a one year wave.
