UH was around 2 billion before The Tuf fund so what will it be now .

I think that the ~$2 billion value may have included UHâs pro-rata share of the Texas University Fund - or whatever it is called.
It probably wonât materially change. As I understand it, the ~$50MM/yr from the TUF is limited to research expenditures, so it wonât be dropped into the endowment fund.
If weâre choosing to include the state TUF endowment in the overall UH endowment value, then UHâs share of the TUF is about $1.35B, UHâs existing endowment is about $1.4B, so the total would be around $2.7B.

Tech has definitely been counting their TUF endowment in their official publications.
We should do the same.

Last time I exchanged email with UH finance, they were not planning to officially count TUF. Complete email posted in the academic thread if interested.
Q3 FY2026 just posted. $42 million in unrealized gains (guessing due to markets)
so at $1,378,000,000.
UofH Foundation, not showing updates
Your message to the Presidentâs office was shared with me yesterday and I was able to follow up with my colleagues in Administration and Finance who manage the endowment reporting for external audiences. The university has discussed the inclusion of Texas University Fund (TUF) in a variety of different reports and surveys, as it is a unique situation given that the UH System (UHS) does not control the funds or have possession of them and that the recipients can change. Our real focus was on our annual financial reporting where we include it, and the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) survey that is a primary source for the U.S. News and World Report (USNWR) rankings.
Our financial reporting team reached out to the other âTUFâ universities in Texas to find out what they were planning to do. We learned that for IPEDS, Texas Tech was going to include TUF, but North Texas (UNT) and Texas State were not. However, Texas Tech and UNT both reported that they were going to include TUF in the NACUBO common fund survey. Unfortunately, that survey had already closed for 2025 when it was identified as an option.
TUF was included in the Progress Card prepared by Institutional Research and will be included in the IPEDS reported values for 2025. In addition, the university plans to apply to participate in the NACUBO survey for FY2026 in which you have to formally request participation.
I hope this provides some clarity on the focus areas for endowment reporting for UH. We appreciate your feedback and thank you for your continued support of the University of Houston.

Wikipedia shows both amounts, FWIW.
It isnât really the universityâs endowment since control rests elsewhere. But I can understand why it would be included in the total amount for comparison purposes.
The University of Houston (/ËhjuËstÉn/ â; HEW-stÉn) is a public research university in Houston, Texas, United States. It was established in 1927 as Houston Junior College, a coeducational institution and one of multiple junior colleges formed in the first decades of the 20th century. In 1934, HJC was restructured as a four-year degree-granting institution and renamed University of Houston. In 1977, it became the founding member of the University of Houston System. Today, Houston is the thir The...

Thatâs what Iâm talking about. All that matters is what NACUBO publishes.
So if Tech is telling NACUBO that that is what their endowment is, then we need to do the same.
Otherwise, we look far behind them.
That NACUBO report gets quoted everywhereâŠeven in Wikipedia, so we had better include TUF when we report to them.

I agree we should do what Tech is reporting
