My fondest memory will always be the 1976 football season, winning all those games in our first season in the SWC, and then beating no.4 Maryland in the Cotton Bowl.

Probably the ‘76 season and the ‘77 Cotton Bowl, the icing on the cake. The ‘83 semifinal against Louisville is up there. Ware winning the Heisman was a great moment. Fondest moments in the past several years would be Marcus Jones’ kickoff return to beat SMU and Tramon Mark’s tip in against Rutgers.

The 1976 game ar Texas and the T$M game st Rice Stadium when the Mad Dig defense stopped big George Woodard to almost negative yards. The game at Texas was their Dads day and we made Memorial Stadium so quiet except the Coog fans!

My dad taking me to Hofheinz as a little kid on October Saturday mornings to watch the Phi Slama Jama teams scrimmage. They would have donuts on the concourse. Eating donuts and in awe of the athleticism of the UH players.

Another of my fondest memories happened in the Hof. Don’t remember the game, but my step daughter, about 6 or 7 years old, would venture out on her own when we were there. She came to our seats after a short while, and told us that she had met a really tall guy She was about 4’ so I figured most everybody was a really tall guy to here. The tall guy she met was Akeem. He was walking around meeting fans and getting acquainted . . . . .This was during a game and he had just recently arrived on campus and not yet a member of the team (officially)

They say your first is always your most memorable, and UH’s first big boy conference was the SWC. For my memory, I am going to combine the first 3-4 years of being in the SWC, which includes big wins, home and on the road, football bowl games, great football recruiting, great basketball rivalries and the SWC Basketball Tournaments alternating between Dallas and Houston.

For me it’s the Tech football game 2009. That was the first time I had experienced a home football game that truly felt “Big Time” in every sense of the way.

Mine….my first live collegiate basketball was UH v Notre Dame at Hofheinz. The game was broadcast on NBC and we won. I was a freshman that year. Then soon after we ended up in conference purgatory….

Playing at Agy may have been worse. Agy called Chaney and Elvin to very name in the book and then some.
Elvin said he encountered the worst slurs as a freshman playing games against.junior college teams I East Texas
