WHAT IS YOUR FONDEST MEMORY OF UH ATHLETICS?

Too many to list including following this years hoops team all the way to San Antonio. I’m old and will probably will never top that one.
Another of my many memories dates back to when I worked for the Daily Cougar and got kicked out of the Ole Miss press box.
I’m sure my “Cougar Power” sticker on my brief case had nothing to do with it lol.
Or maybe it was that 80 yard pass that Elmo Wright caught to start the second half?
At that point I couldn’t help myself as I stood up and did a little payback to the big cop who slapped me back on the back while screaming a racial slur when Ole Miss took a 7-0 lead into halftime.
I was told that “my kind” was not welcome.
I watched the rest of the game sitting in the end zone shaking like a leaf

I can’t remember exactly when I fell in love with UH athletics, growing up I thought UH was always to play in Cotton Bowl and Final Four,(late 70-80’s) but rushing the field at Rice when Andre won the Heisman was special, we were at midfield high fiving players and Andre, then as an alumni, the Peach Bowl was an awesome display that said, we made it, and beat an obnoxious P5 program. (I also rushed the field twice at Roberson, Texas Tech and S. Miss)

As a side note, I went to the Heisman award ceremony on campus at the Hilton, the last chair available was front row, next to Klingler who was next to Andre, I told Klingler that will be you next year, he smiled and I was not far off.

60-40 drubbing of UT in '88

I see a trend. We’re only at UH for 4-7 years. Most of our memories come outside of being in school. Super important to capture students while at school to make sure they are fans for life.

UH should always be on the 10 minute plan.

For me it was the Run and Shoot, winning the Heisman, destroying UT. After that maybe the Peach Bowl and of course San Antonio last week.

My dad taking me to October Saturday morning scrimmages at Hofheinz in the early 80s. I was a little kid in awe. And, going to watch games at Hofheinz during the Phi Slama Jama days. And the 1983 National Semifinal win over Louisville. A game way before its time. After UH fell behind 57-49 in the 2nd half, the rest of that game was Phi Slama Jama at its’ best. I watch that game several times a year.

Win over Purdue in Sweet 16*

Oops, fixed it.
