This is something that I’ve seen come up on other boards a couple of times, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen this topic here. If you could schedule a series with one team that we’ve never played before, who would you pick?
The P4 teams on the list are:
Clemson
Duke
Georgia Tech
Stanford
Virginia
Indiana
Iowa
Northwestern
Purdue
Wisconsin
Most of C-USA, the Sun Belt, and the MAC are available, too, according to this:
I personally would love a series against Georgia Tech. Hard to believe that one’s never happened, actually.

I’m in favor of Georgia Tech. City school. Easy trip. One of the best drinking songs in college football.

Well since my brother went to Georgia Tech, that would be a fun game. Clemson would also get a vote from me.

None of them sound exciting, maybe Clemson just because of their name, the rest are blah

I live in an area littered with Hokies, so it’d be fun to play Virginia Tech.

Viriginia, my brother in law played for them. Indiana if Cignetti is still there. Clemson and Stanford for recruiting.

A new University would be fun, however I prefer to play the Horns even at NRG. I think we can beat them at home or a neutral site. It just has more panache.

We have a current win streak against the ACC.
I want to add some more ACC teams.
Pitt at the end of the 2014 season
Louisville in 2015
Florida State at the end of the 2015 season
Louisville in 2016

T-Moar:
Clemson - Sure! Even in down years, they have enough of a pedigree to make for an impressive victory!
Duke - NO!
Georgia Tech - Meh. It may be a city school, but its STEM focus makes its vibe distinctly different from UH’s vibe. I have a cousin in Atlanta that went there for two years and flunked out.
Stanford - NO! Probably need to drop to I-FCS at the rate they are going.
Virginia - Meh
Indiana - In the past I would’ve said no, but NOW…GIMME A HELL YEAH!!!
Iowa - Meh
Northwestern - Yeah, only because as an Illinois alum, I’d love to see 'em lose to another one of my alma maters.
Purdue - No. Little benefit if you win, lots of embarrassment if you lose.
Wisconsin - Meh.
That’s about how I see it.
If we absolutely gotta schedule a I-FCS opponent, then it should be Lamar, Houston Christian, or TSU; give a team close by a “big time” game.
For Houston Christian, that would be a “first time,” I believe, so that’s that.
Have we ever played Boise? That might be a good “first time” G6 opponent.

How about just keeping the LSU games going. Those are fun and close even if it has to be NRG.

Indiana went 11-2 the year before this year (16-0).
But WHERE THEY ARE NOW is the point.
Getting the opportunity to play them would not result in any reasonable criticism where folks would say….
“That’s not a good matchup because before they became the best team in college football, they had a history of mediocrity”.
That’s just dumb, IMO…

Indiana would, by far, be the best, most marquee matchup on this list…
