No, UHD owns their own land, the land they had before and the 17 acre expansion.
UHD can’t just leave the system though. It would need to be an act of the legislature. I doubt UH would let them but, as I said, if UH tries to force them to change their name they should press for it…just doing that would shut down any name change attempt in an instant.
By allowing UHD to continue existing in downtown Houston (with the UH branding), it prevents a competitor (say UT or A&M) from establishing a satellite campus in the middle of Houston, which would negatively impact UH-Main.

You are likely right on that, I don’t think that was considered when UHD was founded but a lot has changed in higher education since then.
I am not sure of you losers who went to the so-called main campus, or for a while “central campus”, my diploma is from “university park” and true will ever be.
Exactly! My daughter graduated from UT Arlington could of transferred to main campus but didn’t she like the Arlington campus, most folks just see UT and assume she went to the main campus. Especially UTA/Arlington.
What do you have against “non-Traditional students?” A whole lot of the people that wholeheartedly support UH in sports and gifts to the university are non-traditional students. I am one of those night school students that graduated from UH and I am thankful it has provided a path for us contemptable non-traditional students.
