What was the initial purpose of UH-Downtown?

No, UHD owns their own land, the land they had before and the 17 acre expansion.

UHD can’t just leave the system though. It would need to be an act of the legislature. I doubt UH would let them but, as I said, if UH tries to force them to change their name they should press for it…just doing that would shut down any name change attempt in an instant.

Ok then that answers the question

How does UHD benefit UH-Main?

By allowing UHD to continue existing in downtown Houston (with the UH branding), it prevents a competitor (say UT or A&M) from establishing a satellite campus in the middle of Houston, which would negatively impact UH-Main.

You are likely right on that, I don’t think that was considered when UHD was founded but a lot has changed in higher education since then.

I gladly will own the UHD degree. On GoCoogs I’m UHDBill.

Honestly - To siphon potential enrollment from other local schools once they realized they were on the verge of cornering that market -

Who greased a state rep to green light that project? There was data to support it

You two have changed my mind on UH-D.

We need to get them OUT of the UH System ASAP!!! :joy:

Hey

If I went to UT Dallas or UTSA, I would just tell everyone I went to UT!

Lol they would never know

I am not sure of you losers who went to the so-called main campus, or for a while “central campus”, my diploma is from “university park” and true will ever be.

Well UH is a commuter school, so of course park is in its title.

Shoulda been University No-Park, amirite???

These kids nowadays with all their parking garages… they have no idea about parking on gravel and walking 3 miles to class.

Exactly! My daughter graduated from UT Arlington could of transferred to main campus but didn’t she like the Arlington campus, most folks just see UT and assume she went to the main campus. Especially UTA/Arlington.

Or stalking a student coming back from class in the parking lot to take their space.

UT-Dallas is actually really solid school. The others not so much.

Been there and done both. And how about the potholes big enough to swallow a VW BUG.

How hard is it to get into UCLA?

What do you have against “non-Traditional students?” A whole lot of the people that wholeheartedly support UH in sports and gifts to the university are non-traditional students. I am one of those night school students that graduated from UH and I am thankful it has provided a path for us contemptable non-traditional students.

They just shouldn’t be the majority % because they don’t help contrubute to the culture or tradition past graduation.

You are an outlier but I had a parent that was a non- traditional UH student so I know how little the majority care past the day they leave

Thank you. Absolutely infuriating. Just snobbery.

I used to get upset about it but now I laugh all the way to the bank.
