“I’m not going to say it’s spiked our home run rate,” Davis said. “But it’s more of a confidence thing, a swagger, that keeps guys loose and gives that guy a little more confidence that, hey, I just did something.”
Said Hollis: “To hold up the hammer and have your teammates around you … you feel like you’re on top of the world.”
And, in some cases, a home run can set off a celebration worthy of a season-defining moment.
“It’s pretty cool in that moment,” Padgett said. “We show everybody in the stands. We want everybody to see the Thor hammer.”
