Where can Conner rank?

“Best” arguments can always be debated, and there are no wrong answers. Enjoy the fact that UH had some very productive QBs, running some pioneering offenses, e.g., veer and run & shoot, that were good ambassadors of the university.

I really like Ward and enjoyed watching him play. But honestly, Weigman is the better QB and makes a bigger impact. If you’re talking about extending plays and moving around, sure, that’s Ward. But as a pure QB, Weigman is ahead of Ward and almost on Keenum’s level. Keenum’s a UH legend, but objectively, I think Weigman is right up there.

I admit that I’m biased in favor of the guys who came here and stuck it out for multiple years.

Case is at the top of that list because of the condition of the program when he got here, the way he won the job and battled to keep it, the kind of leader he was (and is), and of course, the legendary performances he had.

Ward had to deal with horrific coaching when he first got here, but he stayed around, took the job when he got an opening, and was an amazing player and leader, culminating in what is one of our biggest football wins in the Peach Bowl.

Weigman is in the discussion, though - he’s as tough as any QB we’ve ever had, a great leader, and still shines when the lights are bright. Where he “ranks” will depend on how the rest of the season goes. He can move up the ranking by talking some sh!t about his former school, though. :grinning:

I think that a playoff appearance gets him ahead of Ward, and probably on the UH QB Mount Rushmore. (IMO, a CCG appearance implies we make the CFP this year.) I’m not putting him ahead of Keenum unless he wins the Heisman – which he isn’t currently in serious contention for – or the Natty, but I think it becomes a discussion with either a Conference Championship or a Playoff win. For me, though, Keenum’s longevity and importance to the offense matters a lot. 2011 had one of the more pass-heavy offenses in the country, whereas it’d be fair to describe 2026 so far as somewhere between balanced and run-heavy.

Keenum beat #5 OKST (with Dez Bryant) on the road right before that Tech win.

It can be a debate depending on how this year finishes but one thing I want to say something about Keenums impact on the program that no one’s touched on. That 2015 peach bowl team was full of players that committed to UH to play when Keenum was balling out his senior year. I genuinely don’t think we have the magic of that season without what Case did. His impact on the program goes beyond just the W/Ls he had during his career. Ofc in 10 years we may be saying the same thing about Connor!

I think you can also say Keenum is one of the main reasons we were able to get TDECU built.

Andre should be number 1 but just can’t put him there just always seems to stay neutral to much. He could be more positive about UH like Jim Nantz. Case is my number 1 because He never fails to be positive about UH.
