I’m interested in seeing how Fritz and staff prepares the team for Texas Tech. Our schedule has been somewhat soft thus far and Oregon State should be another winnable game.
Today I’ll be watching the Oregon State vs Texas Tech game closely. For Willy & the Poor Boys, it’s a rare opportunity to watch two teams coming up soon on our schedule back-to-back.
Week 1: Can we beat SFA? Week 2: Rice will be the real first test Week 3: Rice is G5, Colorado will be UH’s first real competition Week 4-5: Colorado bad. Texas Tech will be UH’s first real test Week 8: We won’t truly know how good this team is until we play Georgia in the CFP CFP Finals: Georgia is having a down year, we beat Ohio State and we can truly consider UH to be a good team
I see that as a blessing tbh. Just like Sampson his age will be a deterrent for big time programs wanting to poach him. If Fritz can even give us 6 more seasons after this one he’ll be the 2nd longest tenured coach in program history. That’d be more than enough time to build us into a powerhouse.
Texas Tech reminds me of those SMU teams in our late American days that used to put up like 60 points on the Temples and Tulsas of the world for the first half of the season, generate a bunch of hype, and then finish 8-4 once they started playing real teams.
