We have the number one team and a clear cut national title contender. Why aren’t we in the Jimmy V Classic over an Iowa for example?

Could be a Kelvin decision. Could be an ESPN decision, who decided on the 4 teams
I think Kelvin wanted a good MTE, but had to satisfy the Oregon game this yr
But Kelvin doesn’t load up his non conference like Gonzaga or Alabama does. Cause I think he wants his team to have alot of confidence going into conference play. Work out alot of their mistakes early, without taking too many Ls

The real question is why isn’t NC State in the Jimmy V Classic?
CKS seems to prefer a balanced non-conf (most of our buy games this season are actually good programs in their conferences) and not too many neutral site games. He wants home and homes. He’s said it several times. Props to Oregon, Bama, and Virginia for accepting the challenge so far.

It’s a great cause, no doubt and does wonderful things. As far as Jimmy V, a different story. I had the (mis)fortune of sitting directly across the aisle from him in Seattle for the 1984 NCAA finals. Let’s just say he was not exactly a gracious winner.
Should be named the Guy V Lewis Invitational for cancer research.

The Jimmy V Classic is typically just 4 top 25-ish teams playing at MSG
Unfortunately with NC State being pretty average to below average recently, they arent invited
Typically the big brands play at that event like a Duke.
Last year it was Texas Tech vs Tennessee
& Villanova vs Syracuse
Looks like the event is organized by ESPN.
