Why can't our recruiting be as good as UCF's?

The creation of the portal was the worst thing to happen to UH with CDH at the helm. The last few years we have gone HEAVY portal and it is clear we will do so again. There is a reason for this…it enables CDH to much more easily pursue his lazy tendencies towards recruiting. Instead of going out to all the HS coaches and developing relationships and getting feeders established and in general just grinding on the recruiting trail (like the traditional way), he can crush a can of Redbull and circle some names on an excel spreadsheet. The portal for someone like CDH is akin to putting a beer in front on an alcoholic - they can’t resist the urge to partake.

Long term we have basically NO development of talent in our program and much difficulty building a culture with so many coming and going year to year. Once CDH is inevitably canned, our program will be literally in shambles from a talent perspective MUCH MUCH worse that whatever Apple supposedly left us with (which I still largely call BS on that)…but I digress.

Yes, that is really how it seems, he can’t bother to get the team ready for the games. He continually allows players to keep playing when they make a huge stupid penalty, and well, seems the other coaches also don’t get any sort of reprimand when they can’t get a play or the players in.

Dana seems to show up, but I don’t know that he’s really present.

It’s basically like ordering from McDonald’s & recruiting high schoolers is like buying or growing ingredients to make something at home. Essentially McDonald’s will do but it’s lower quality and takes fraction of the effort

Thanks for chiming in. It’s always appreciated.

This is precisely why I pointing this out. Let say he has a tremendous portal campaign. So far we have had the exact opposite.

Are we discussing the carnival barker again? Help us

Why can’t our coach be as sober as UCF’s?

I sure could go for a couple McRib’s on the O-Line though.

They have an aligned strategy how to recruit.

We struggle to start over every time we get a new coach.

Who is our Recruiting Coordinator, regardless of a coaching change?

Shouldn’t we know his/her name?

If you want a similar scenario as us. UCLA recruiting was top 15 level before Chip Kelly took over & it fell dramatically after he was hired. Just like Dana, Chip uses the portal a ton to plug holes and that’s his primary strategy. Their attendance is just as bad as ours when you see the pictures. Now they want to move off him because donors have soured on him & don’t want to donate to NIL while he is in charge. Just like Dana a lot of people don’t like him there & he rubs people the wrong way. It’s eerily similar

Does UCF have FB ops facility? Dana is a dummkopf, trying to sell cow manure to a rancher who’s in the cattle business.Building don’t recruit players coaches recruit players

Agree. IMO this is ground for dismissal. If this was just this season he somewhat gets a pass. Unfortunately this has been the case since day one.

Another strike against us vs UCF.

UCF is the YOUNGEST Power 5 school.

We are older than them by 40 years and have a great historical past plus we have a much larger endowment than theirs, and notable alums, yet we are currently looking up to the University of Central Florida.

Our athletic teams, not named Men’s Basketball or Women’s Volleyball, are ALL trending downward.

Fertitta’s empire relies on data. A restaurant does not perform? Changes are coming and ultimately they will close it down. This has been going on for five seasons. Where is the accountability?

Here are their “nine” four stars:

The Conroe recruit is hard to believe but…yup it makes sense.

Honest question. Would you want your son to play for Dana?

UCF set up Kingdom NIL. Raising millions. That’s why they are killing it in recruiting. Relationships are meaningless if you don’t have $$$.

I wouldn’t want him to have to play behind Parker Jenkins

What is kingdom NIL and how can we replicate it?
