If they get 4, i think we will get 3. Our commish and prez’s will absolutely demand it. They can demand 4, but they cant say a damn thing about what WE want. Thats why i think the 4-4-3-3 model with 1 more for ND and 1 open is what will happen.
3-3-3-3, 2 for G6 and 2 wild cards or UND.
Not a bad breakdown.
That should be the norm. In fact both the BIG12 and acc commissioners should come out publicly that this is the fairest for the entire FBS Div I landscape. Then will we see what the big10 and sec real intentions are. This format needs support from the Texas legislature and all states reps that have a “skin in the game”
We are at a cross road. The public does not want a p2 breakaway. The networks and both the big10 and sec know it. They want to go forward with let the fireworks starts. A class action lawsuit ought to be ready if it is not already.
Why 4-2 or 4-3? Why not treat everyone fairly 3-3?
This year all top 12 teams will be mostly SEC/B1G teams. Conferences will never be equal again. Book it
SEC/B1G will say 3-3-3-3 is not fair to them because their conference is tougher according to them. TV networks will do what they want because that’s where majority of the revenue comes from. Not gonna happen
As previously posted we should never accept less than 443311.
33331111 ought to be the norm, period
Call their bluff for them to secede then the biggest sports class action lawsuit will srart. Enough is enough.
12 sec teams in March Madness was a farce and everyone knows it.
If their conference schedule is tougher, they’ll be ranked higher due to that strength of schedule, so they’ll get (and have gotten) that benefit already.
This 4 guaranteed spots business is simply a money grab for when they don’t have 4 teams that truly deserve or qualify for the remaining at-large spots.
And that is not cool.
Good questions! I don’t have answers. But that’s what was done!
With the presidential commission now on hold, I think the SEC/B1G get pretty much all they want.
I think 4-4-3-3-1-1 is great. We’ll essentially have the same playoff every year with a couple of teams rotating in and out. I can’t wait to have a Wisconsin or Michigan State team, that scores 12 points per game on offense, and no one believes has a remote chance to win the NC get in as the number 3 and 4 team for the big, because dudes in a room negotiated it ahead of time.
Yormark needs to be in there fighting for our fair share. If they get 4, we absolutely need to get 3. They are going to get 4, probably. And it has nothing to do with rankings. It has everything to do with they have the most viewers and biggest TV ratings. THATS what ESPN cares about. Like i said, CBY needs to be in there making sure if they get 4, we get 3. Thats job number 1 for him…and if there need to be 16 teams for us to get 3, then make sure that is what we go to…
To the contrary. This is the right time to go on the offensive. 3333112 is the ideal set up. Everyone knows it even the networks. Why you may ask?
One independent more than likely allows ND in. Huge following.
One G5 (IMO that is not enough) it allows for the G5 to win the Natty.
Two at large allows for highest seeds to get in. We all know that the cfp will favor the big10 and sec. But allowing two p2’s will have to be “proven” think if a G5 goes undefeated with just a lower SOS than the G5 that gets selected?
If you believe that after getting almost all the biggest brands under their umbrella, SEC and B1G are going to tread Big 12 and ACC as equals, there’s a tower in Paris you might be interested in buying.
Big 12/ACC might parley themselves into 3 AQ spots each, but no way will they get the same number of spots as B1G/SEC. No matter how much pressure B12/ACC bring to bear, it won’t be anywhere near enough to force the SEC/B1G to treat them as equals!
What you’re proposing is that B1G/SEC surrender to the Big 12 and ACC. I just don’t see that happening. Not when B1G/SEC have been given the power to decide format of next playoff.
If they’re pushed too far, SEC/B1G might give B12/ACC a case of be careful what you wish for you might get it. So what if SEC/B1G say only 4 automatic spots for the P4 champs? The other 12 spots to be at large. Or no guaranteed spots, the top 16 get bids! I think this could be even worse for B12 and ACC.
Playoff seeding will need to have at least some balance with all 4 power conferences in order to get an agreement. All want as many seeds as they can get. Thats why i think 4-4-3-3 is what will happen. The SEC and BIG want 4? FINE, but we get 3…and i dont know where people get SEC/BIG decide the seeding. Based on what?? Because you read it on the internet? NO way thats true. Like Big 12, ACC and ND would agree to that? COME ON! All of P4 has a say in how the seeding goes… I am sure there is some commission or something.
What i read tonight indicated that SEC/BIG want 4-4-2-2-1 with 3 open seeds, and Big 12, ACC and ND want 4-4-3-3 with 2 open seeds, 1 going to ND if they are ranked 16th or higher. If you can believe it, all D1 conferences and ND agreed to go along with whatever the structure is. I think we could end up with 4-4-2-2-1 in 2026, with ACC and Big 12 having a chance for open slot. I think SEC/BIGs argument will be that in their good years, Big 12 and ACC will get 3 in anyway, and in off years they wont.
Look at ESPN’s “too early” pre-season poll.
The top 12?
SEC - 4 teams
B10 - 4 teams
BIG 12 - 2 teams
ACC - 1 team
IND - 1 team
The propaganda never stops.
In a perfect world,
Clemson beats LSU and South Carolina.
Miami beats Florida and Notre Dame.
Big 12’s biggest OOC matchups are:
Iowa State vs Iowa
AZ State beats Miss State
not exactly marquee matchups…
No Baylor - Auburn on your list…
I read the same which likely happens as 4,4,2,2,1 ,1 with 3 open spots and if the Acc and big12 have a 3rd team in the top 18 then the Acc or both could get a 3rd if top 18. This is ok in that I wouldn’t want us with a 3rd team that gets blown away. I read it’s being discussed.
