With Peach Bowl in the past, UH starts anew in fall camp

During a break in drills on the opening day of UH’s fall training camp Thursday, Herman called for cornerback Jeremy Winchester to stand up in front of the team. Herman then revealed that one of the notes he made for himself on Day 1 of last year’s camp was to “cut Winchester.”
Winchester, a standout hurdler who Herman last November described as a “track guy playing football” at the beginning of the season, survived the start of camp but received the message his head coach was trying to send.
“I had to grow up very fast, and thankfully I responded very well,” he said.
