Rice 4 - Coogs 0

Competitive on the ones that got called, but got demolished on the rest.

Way to put the jinx on Law. :grimacing:

Good for her. Hopefully she gets all the support she needs to build the program.

Lost 4-0 to both TCU and Baylor this weekend and have dropped 7 straight. Still have not scored a point in Big 12 play this year. Program is now 0-17 in the Big 12.

As for the X post by Coach Kat I like the fire but I don’t think many (if any) Big 12 schools are putting a lot of NIL money into women’s tennis and OSU not a top 25 team and just lost to UCF. Not exactly UT. Correct me if I’m wrong.

We have six courts. No indoor facility. No restrooms for spectators. No club facility for things like concessions or gear.

I tried to raise money for a joint venture between UH tennis and Zina Garrison Academy but there was very little interest. Never got any headway.

Maybe UH’s best bet is to get in on MacGregor Park redo and move tennis over the Braes. The area where the courts are now could be used by baseball and softball.

That’s disappointing to hear about the Zina G deal. That could have been amazing for the community.

Nice Okie State facility, but are they really putting more money into NIL than our entire budget? That seems like hyperbole.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised. Hopefully in 10 years our P4 money will help us catch up.

Guessing that only having women’s tennis will make it near impossible to justify funding better facilities.

OSU has both mens and womens teams. That helps to justify their facilities. At one point several years back, the Big 12 had 6 mens teams and all were ranked in the top 25.

UH used to have a nationally competitive men’s tennis team. Just an FYI.

Men’s tennis was a varsity sport at UH until the 80s.

Yeah we did. We finished the year in the top 10 shortly before the program was cut!

Just saying that having a team now helps to justify expenses now. Who cares if there was a men’s team 40 years ago when donating to facilities today.

Well, possibly.

The only thing is, under Title IX…if we add men’s tennis…then we’ll need to add another women’s sport as well.

As cash strapped as our athletics department has been…I don’t see adding more sports, and as such, more sports expenses, as a viable strategy for improving our tennis facility infrastructure.

Agree on Title IX. Do not see another men’s team added soon (assuming Title IX does not disappear). My point being, I also do not see any hope to improve facilities for women’s tennis either because of no men;s team.

OSU has both thus part of the reason they have good facilities for tennis.

Need more creative options to succeed

Lost to Kansas and Iowa State this weekend at home. The good news is that we finally got on the scoreboard after 5 straight shutouts. The bad news is that we have lost 19 straight conference games. There are also 3 other winless teams in the Big 12 still on our schedule so there is some hope that we will get our first conference win as soon as next weekend against Colorado.

Lost 4-0 to tech and 4-1 to previously winless Colorado. I blame it all on Law

We play the other lone winless team in West Virginia at home this weekend. Probably our best chance for a W and should be beautiful weather.
