Womp Womp

I’m guessing that this is freshman orientation. I noticed that they are doing the Womp Womp by swaying left and right with their arms locked onto the person next to them as opposed to just waving their arms above their heads with the Coog paw. I like this way better. Has this been going on for awhile or is this a new thing?

I also saw this on the same UH twitter account:

Did we used to have bonfires?

Definitely used to have bonfires before they were deemed “too dangerous” or whatever.

In the Hofbrau Haus in Munich ,Germany one sits at long tables and locks arms singing to the band such things as …ein Hofbrau haus in Munich stat ,eine, zwei, sofa ! Pardon my weak German . Where is Vollmer when we need him?
Also you need some gute bier going on .
Go B12 Coogs !

Finally creating a culture!

Every other student section including aggy does the swaying thing during their chants. This is taking something that was unique and running it through a manufactured visual factory.

Why change one of the few organic traditions we have?

Terrible idea.

Because now a larger % of the students will know what it is

Let us not aggify

No aggiefy. We are teaching the real version when the season comes. The swaying paw was great!

Even the school knows we are teaching them the real one lmao

I prefer originality rather than imitation. Fans swaying imitates Aggie. Sounding off points on a bell imitates Baylor. Having one side yell “Houston” and the other side yell “Cougars” imitates T-Sip. Shooting a cannon after a kickoff or score imitates Aggie and T-Sip. Playing the fight song after a score imitates all colleges (sorry, I got carried away).

I know people disagree, but I enjoyed the air raid. Their may be some other schools that use it, but we were known for it.

I hate the air raid. As far as yelling “Houston”" Cougars", that is not imitating UT. This happens all over the country. I agree swaying does seem a bit Aggie but swaying isn’t just an Aggie thing. I remember seeing it from other fanbases. I just like seeing our fans do more than just non chalantly waving their hands left to right over their heads[.]

P.S.- Can the band not wear the Super Mario uniforms anymore? lol

Another favorite of mine is the Eat-Em-Up chant. This is where it gets controversial. I much prefer the fans yell “raw, raw, raw”. Sometime, I’m not sure when, some idiot decided it was “rah, rah, rah”. Then another idiot, or maybe the same idiot, decided to soften the yell with “go Coogs go”.

I much prefer the aggressiveness and animalistic instinct of “raw, raw, raw”.

Originally it was rah rah rah.

I know we don’t really want to aggiefy. But let’s also be honest we’d all commit several felonies to get Aggie levels of student and alumni engagement.

Were you at school when they did that version?

Yes.

I started in 1966.

It was “rah, rah, rah”.

“Raw, raw, raw” sounds, well, not very bright.

How did that “rah rah rah” sound in the stadium?

The stadium would need more fans in attendance. Hard to put your arm on the shoulder of someone 10 seats from you.

Did the aggies still do this after the pandemic?
