World Cup in Houston

I believe the event will not live up to the hype. Ticket prices at Reliant Stadium are sky high, certainly too high for the average fan. There will be seven games at Reliant Stadium. Can big crowds be sustained for three weeks?

International tourism as a whole in the U.S. is down for a variety of reasons; high airfares, driven by energy prices, conflict in the middle east, strict border policies, reports of ICE agents at the World Cup, strained relationships with allies.

I am curious to see how big the crowds are in Houston.

I expect plenty of empty seats. Outrageous prices. I would have loved to have gone to some games, but I am unwilling to give up food and electricity to do it.

At least we got city upgrades like the 7 street block off downtown call The Promonade which is permanent. They have out door eating and walk ability along 7 blocks on main st with light rail thru it. It should be a boost to downtown. Every time houston gets a big event , we get permanent upgrades which last.

I’ll take what we can get.

The 7 block permanent block off was built from a federal grant .
