Maybe this time they can pay up front for half of the new OPS bldg.
D’Eriq King is available
Reminds me of their coach . . . . .
Good from what I watched the receivers in the USFL weren’t that good …
" Lachlan Murdoch says Fox plans to continue building USFL, eventually sell teams to local owners in five to seven years"
Three Texas teams Now…
Wade is 75, do you think he still has desire to coach?
He better. He has been already assigned to be the Houston Head Coach for 2023
"The eight coaches were chosen in April, but now they know where they will be leading franchises.
Former NFL coach Wade Phillips, who coached the Cowboys and Texans, will be heading back to Texas to coach the Houston team.
The two other Texas teams will be coached by former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops (Dallas) and former Steelers Pro Bowl wide receiver Hines Ward (San Antonio)."
I didn’t know that. I really don’t keep up with XFL or USFL.
The XFL in 2020 was a BLAST.
I went to several games and they were pretty well attended and growing every week before covid hit.
Honestly the fan energy in TDECU was better than many UH games.
I’m looking forward to it in 2023.
Did UH advertise at the XFL games?
Wade has always maintained residency in Houston-- Memorial area during his off season time while coaching in NFL. He built a new home( Hedwig Village or Hunters Creek) few yrs ago n has maintained full time residency here since he left the Rams.
Great to have the XFL back in Houston and TDECU Stadium.
How about the USFL are they expected to stay and keep the Gamblers?
No. But in 2019, the XFL literally had tables set up at UH games promoting the XFL.
True.
So if the Gamblers ever make it out of Birmingham, where do they play? Has there been any word on some kind of exclusivity deal at TDECU?
My guess is the Gamblers will play at Rice Stadium.
USFL is the rebranded Spring League. Spring League played at Rice Stadium in 2021. I went to the Mega Bowl. Virtually everyone at the game was a family member of the players.
Cam Phillips had an exciting season with the Roughnecks. Over 5 games, he had 9 TDs. Phillips currently plays in the CFL. Phillips leads the Toronto Argos in TD receptions this year.
I am going to go out on a limb here and say chances of 2 minor league football teams surviving in H-Town is zero. XFL was entertaining and looked to be gaining some traction before it got shut down
