The mere fact that a state limits abortion, is a concession that at some point in the pregnancy the fetus becomes a life with rights. Otherwise late term abortions would be fine, it hasn’t exited the womb so therefore is not a life and the mother can do as she sees fit.
The vast majority of people are against late term abortions because the vast majority of people view the child inside of the womb to be a living child.
So the question isn’t one of “my body, my choice” it is a question of when does the rights of the child become equal to the rights of the mother. Is it at conception? Is it after the first trimester? Is it at the point of a detecting a fetal heart beat?
To throw more biblical verse out there for conversation, my favorite is “I am God and you sure as hell ain’t”. Ok my translation from ancient Hebrew may not be precise, but you get the picture. My answer is I don’t know because I am not God. Falling on any position of this magnitude, by spouting party politics is a grave sin in my mind. Because we are being asked to take the position of God and to fall lockstep under a party banner is doing the most grievous sin in the old testament, you are replacing God with an Idol. In this case the Idol is your political party.
That is why I am REALLY against these trigger laws because there is no debate and many of those trigger laws were put into place well before any of us were even of voting age. It is VERY wrong. The trigger laws are the polar opposite of Roe, but equally wrong. Both take away any debate on a subject that deserves A LOT of debate.
