I thought he was a breath of fresh air with some out of the box thinking. However, I never believed he would stay very long.

Why? What good has he done?

Nailed down a TV contract that kept the Big 12 alive, and effectively killed the PAC as a power conference.

He locked in that $20 million conference deal & got all of our jerseys, courts and fields painted with monster logos…

He got us in that sweet partnership with the WWE…

Wait a second… good riddance.

The TV deal was solid.

But you don’t like the glass basketball floor?

The biggest remaining challenge for the new Big XII Commish is narrowing the substantial revenue gap between the B10 and SEC.

Can we hire someone who understands Big 12 economics and culture as the next commissioner instead of an east coast guy?

Yeah… SEC is way ahead of everybody…

B1G reaps the benefits of Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State…

How many B1G/SEC games have been on ESPN+…?

Yor was great at conf realignment time.
THEN Yormark went all in on the promotions.
Mexico games, WWE, Monster.

Best late move:
No to Paypal trading sponsor $ to get Memphis in Big12.

Need a more clinical / empirical guy next.

Next guy gets them through realignment.
Big 12 could lose a few teams and still add value
as they backfill.
Last round of call ups are mostly booming.

TV deal near B12 & B10 seems a reach but
Big 12 will get a raise.
Hoping football and hoop all over ONE big network.

Will next guy try to sell Basketball/ Olympic sports as its own contract ?

Not too worried. I thought he was a good hire. I liked that the presidents went with an out of the box hire. Would like for them to keep the same mindset in looking for a replacement.

TV deal facts:
espn’s intent was to kill the BIG12. This is the main reason why uta and okie went to the sec. In other terms they were assured by leaving to the sec espn would pay aac money to the BIG12. Bowlesby found out and threatened to sue espn. espn caved in, our teams were invited into the BIG12 and espn “settled” Yormark got in shortly after and “parlayed” Bowlesby’s intent. Yes Yormark got us a deal but the primary driver was Bowlesby. He saved the BIG12. Good to get these “logos” but we clearly see where the BIG12 is in the espn world. I find it interesting that we found out he is leaving when this new college agreement will be signed into law.
Our ratings are great when positioned…at the right time. This is key and always has been. The obvious next realignment has one league going extinct or a big10 and sec "fusion. What have we heard all week? Miami wants to leave the acc and join the big10, sec or become independent. None of this is happening by luck. Remember what this new agreement says. None of the p4 can poach another p4 team for four years. It is easy to come to the conclusion that Miami will announce shortly that they will become independent soon. How many will follow but the biggest fact is that nobody knows what the acc by laws is made off. If a certain amount of teams leave to become independent would that mean the acc is no more? Nobody knows but Miami has a clear goal in mind.
If I were the BIG12 I would try to find someone closely related to Skydance (CBS and TNT merged) There is one gentleman that can be immensely valuable. Mr. Jim Nantz that is. I am not saying that he should be our next commissioner but he can clearly help us.
espn wants a “super league”. They have clearly made their point.
What matters on the “sporting side” is that we win as quickly as possible be in football and basketball.

My feeling is it is always good to get a fresh view every few years. Yormark had successes, and get someone new to build on those successes. If this new person stays around long enough, he will be negotiating a new B12 media contract.

The more I think about it could we all imagine Jim Nantz as the new BIG12 commissioner?
There is a “Grand Canyon” difference with Announcing and being a commissioner but Coogfans is all about comments…and would he even want the job.
