So we did end up with a guy in the Cape Cod League this year as new commit, Ben Sears. Sears was signed right before the playoffs and made his debut in the playoffs.

I’ll update Summer League stats later this week. Most of the leagues are in the playoffs and some kids will be returning to school now.

Final Stats for the Summer:

Lot of guys in the playoffs as Lockhart, Way, Bayless, and Burckel all participated in the Valley League. Hill, Bayless, and Mayo were also in the playoffs in the California League (playoff stats were included in regular season stats) and made the Finals before falling.

Bayless was named Pitcher of the Year in the Valley League while Lockhart was named to the 2nd team.

Those in Red in the spreadsheet above left early and didn’t finish the season.

Many thanks for putting it all together. Very interesting on Big Ron pitching, never seen him on the hill in HS. IIRC, he had more mound appearances than AB’s this past season

I don’t believe he pitched in high school, at least I can’t find any record of it. His perfect game profile has him as a shortstop only…and they usually list every position a kid plays in high school.

I was really excited about his bat coming out of Bellaire, but, for whatever reason, he seems to struggle hitting consistently. When he does make contact, he has a ton of power, but contact is a huge issue with him.

Thought he was OK as a pitcher last year. He only pitched 6 innings, and ended up with a 3.00 ERA. That last stat may be more due to luck as he walked 9 and gave up 5 hits in those 6 innings.

I think Rooney likes his arm and thinks he can do something with him. Hoping he can make him a serviceable reliever to provide depth for the pen.

McMillan named to the 2nd Team:

• Woodstock lefty Tristen Bayless has logged just 8.2 innings over the last two years at Houston, but he looks primed to take on a bigger role in 2020. He showed good feel for pitching with an 86-88 fastball and a nice, tight breaking ball during his two scoreless innings Tuesday.
