Bryson Smith

Listen to me closely… If you are not already on Twitter, join immediately, and help with the Social Media ambush that is coming from our fanbase. We need every little bit of help we can get…

Here’s the issue… UT had already offered & early signed Sam Ehlinger.

But make no mistake, they want our dual threat Bryson also. They offered him as a “slot receiver” so as not to piss off Ehlinger. But now that Ehlinger is enrolled, I wouldn’t put it past DIRTY Vermin to at the last minute offer Bryson as a QB and try to flip him. He’ll wait til the very last minute to stay off the radar.

UH offered Bryson Smith as a QB & plans to let him compete at QB for starting role. UT has not made him this promise (yet).

I know some of you hate social media… but suck it up and do Twitter for the next two weeks. You can close your account on Feb 1st. This is a crucial time, because this will be the recruiting season that will be MOST difficult for Applewhite. After this year… it should be smooth sailing (especially after UT has a crap season, and the “Fire Herman” chants start).

I’m feeling pretty confident he wont flip. He immediately support the Applewhite hire, hasnt posted information about offers from other schools, and I think we have an edge with it comes to QB coach/OC.

  1. All of Coog Nation can collectively send a million tweets, and it still will not factor in where a recruit chooses to go.

  2. UH football will be fine with or without any one player. Plenty of quality Texas players to go around.
What will seperate us from the rest is coaching and player development.

  3. UH is currently the best football program in the state, according to the only metric that matters. If a player has eyes for another program then I would rather him leave now then get here and second guess his decision.

We don’t know the promises that are made and shouldn’t assume. Are we held to promises Herman made before his exit? As far as we have been told King was offered as a QB and we burned his redshirt to play him as a receiver. On top of that Allen is the favorite to win the starting QB spot in the Spring with King and Bowman (rated higher than Smith coming out of high school) to compete for the backup spot since Postma most likely won’t be 100% by then.

My point being, if Smith is offered as a QB at UT and decides to take that offer, no reason to vilify Herman for that because we have plenty of quality QB’s that have all been promised opportunities ourselves. At UH or UT, Bryson (unless heavily underrated) would most likely redshirt here as well as UT.

With Applewhite as a head coach, who knows what the 2018 class will bring. Getting a kid like Jalen Mayden could change everything. I’d rather be more supportive of the kids we have in house that we wanted so badly and haven’t had that chance than start a campaign that appears to forget the QBs we have already. Don’t let your hatred of Herman blind you to the point your loyalty and support for the kids already on campus becomes secondary to your support for kids you don’t want Herman to get.

OK, but can we fart in his general direction?

Only if you are French, Herman is English and Bryson Smith is the Holy Grail.

Dream on.

Greg Ward Jr. is like a mentor to Bryson. Same HS, same position, same posse. I’m pretty certain Bryson won’t flip his commitment.

Other than Toneil Carter, UT’s recruiting season after Herman arrived has been underwhelming by UT standards.

To be fair to Herman, he put his staff together the same week the dead period started. Last week was the first week his crew could do in home visits and they have a lot of quality uncommitted players coming in on official visits the last 3 weeks. His focus was in the dead period was probably to focus on current commits/recruits (UT and UH) rather than call a bunch of kids he hasn’t met face to face. He might consider it successful that he had only 1 decommit during the transition.

But as John Tyler played Rockwall, Applewhite’s choice of seats - right next to the mother of Lions senior quarterback and point guard Bryson Smith - said everything.

Walker Little and Marvin Wilson turn him down, though.

I have compiled the following list of all recruiting targets that have ever been persuaded by a bunch of tweets from fans and alumni of schools to join that school’s program:

There’s always that one person…:grinning::wink:

And you can say for sure that fan support on social media never persuaded one recruit? It can’t hurt to try.

I truly believe it helps. When you have hundreds of alum/fans from that school retweeting your tweet, liking your tweet or replying to your tweet encouraging you to come to UH it can definitely help. Sure, we don’t get them all but as a person who works with our youth, I know how certain things can influence them. But hey, who am I and what do I know.

I disagree with that. It can.

It depends on the interaction. People often wish to disassociate with a group over bad interactions more than they’d want to associate with a group over positive ones.
Think of any political group (especially the last political election) and notice all of the negative attacks the candidates made on their opponents. Why? It works.
All it takes is one stalkerish or clingy fan to turn a recruit off.
Now, if we had professional models and porn stars tweeting some support for UH, that might be something, I just don’t expect tweets from a bunch of likely middle aged dudes to high schoolers to be a winning strategy.

Don’t worry. We will tweet, RT tweets, like tweets and encourage these prospect athletes to come be apart of CoogNation on your behalf. FYI…every major program is doing it. Why do you think Coaches are now active on social media. Times are changing…
