We just need another scenario like last season when Ohio State went into the playoff and Big Ten Champion Penn State didn’t.

Agreed. The NCAA would absolutely be able to strong-arm this kind of situation.
AND they could take their Playoffs back. They should strike while the CFB committee is fumbling around with this 4 team beauty contest to which they are contractually bound.
NCAA could leverage the Blue Bloods in BOTH CFB and CBB.
the other big name teams who missed out…especially conference champs and ND would immediately go for this.
Like mentioned, if Bama and UGA BOTH make the CFP, and ND makes it, and a non-conference champ is chosen over a conference champ then you will have 4 major conferences NOT represented.
The NCAA will then have 9 out of 10 champs representing. And it IS possible.
But would they really do it? So much corruption.
