Cougars to Face SMU on Saturday

• Entering Saturday’s game, SMU has posted a 16-4 overall record and is 6-1 in American Athletic Conference play… Mustangs are in second place in the latest league standings, a half game behind league leader SMU.
• SMU has won its last two games and 12 of its last 13 games… Only a 66-64 loss at Cincinnati on Jan. 12 prevents a longer streak.
• In most recent action, SMU claimed a 69-49 win over UConn on Thursday night inside Moody Coliseum in Dallas.
• Against UConn, SMU jumped out to a 36-15 lead at halftime and never looked back… Sophomore guard Shake Milton led the way with 23 points, five rebounds and six assists, while junior forward Semi Ojeleye totaled 17 points with six rebounds… Senior forward Ben Moore added 14 points with a game-high 13 rebounds.
• This season, Ojeleye tops SMU with 17.7 points per game… Milton stands second with 12.5 points per game but leads the Mustangs with 4.3 assists per contest… Moore averaged 11.9 points and a team-best 7.9 rebounds per game, while senior guard Sterling Brown ranks fourth with 11.4 points per game.
• Head Tim Jankovich is in his first full season at SMU and his 11th season as a collegiate head coach.
• Has compiled a 182-126 record during his career and is 24-5 during his SMU tenure.
• Previously built a 53-57 record at North Texas (1993-97) and a 104-64 record at Illinois State (2007-12)… Led SMU to a 9-0 start to open the 2015-16 season after former Head Coach Larry Brown was suspended.
• Saturday’s game will be the first time that Jankovich has faced Houston during his career.
• 1982 graduate of Kansas State.

Meyer starting tonight, Van Beck to the bench.

CKS in pregame talks about how the team keeps falling behind early; says it’s his biggest issue this year: getting this team ready to play vs giving maximum effort.

CKS says the offense is bogging down, guys aren’t moving, ball is getting sticky. Got to keep the offense going. Mentions how Dot keeps going to the corner and staying there even when no one told him to do that. Says Gray was 2-10 last game for 3, but had to shoot a lot late in the shot clock.

Says he’s having to play Chicken too many minutes, but has no other choice.

Cougars wearing black uniforms today. Pretty nice.
