Forgot that tonight was the make-up game for the rainout earlier in the season:
UP TO THE PLATE
Houston (14-13, 2-4 The American) at Lamar (9-18, 2-10 Southland)
April 2 | Beaumont, Texas Live Stats | Live Stream (Facebook Live) | Live Audio
All-Time Series: Houston leads, 53-28
ON LAMAR • The Cardinals enter the week with a 9-7 overall record and 2-10 mark in Southland Conference play. • In a five-game homestand, Lamar was swept by Nicholls over the weekend. • Sophomore right fielder Avery George leads the Cardinals in batting average (.337), hits (37) and stolen bases (7). • Junior left fielder Cole Coker was named Preseason All-SLC First Team. Coker was named to the All-SLC Second Team as a utility player in 2018. • The Cardinals were picked to finish eighth in the Southland Conference Preseason Poll. • Lamar is batting .303 as a team and has a 4.86 ERA, compared to opponents’ .273 average and 6.13 ERA.
Leadoff double, walk, great catch by Thomas in center, walk to load the bases, double play ball, but Burckel throws it away to allow 2 runs to score…Lamar leads 2-0
Our defense is horrible even more today two double plays we should have had in the first few innings, we look like a high school team and now a bad throw to first and a bad throw to home terrible
Season getting worse than I could have imagined. The defense under CTH has for most part usually been above avg… Been bad all year, no other way to put it.
Some of it is probably the new guys up the middle. Coldiron and Hollis were excellent in the field and it’s hard to replace that.
However, @UHBBfan has brought up Davis before as a problem. While his stats don’t seem bad and he looks the part at 1st, I do wonder how comfortable the other players feel about him over there. Reason I mention it is because of Triolo. Last year, he seemed to have no problem making throws over to 1st and gunning it with Lockhart over there. This year, I’ve watched him aim it and take things off his throws. Wonder if Hyland and Burckel are doing the same.
