Cougars ready to race at NCAA Indoor Championships

Last year we scored, but we didn’t quite do what we were capable of. But we were also relying on fewer people,” Burrell said. “This year, we definitely have more depth that will certainly serve us well, and it doesn’t hurt when you have two of the best 400m runners in the world on the team.”

Will be shown on ESPN3.

Coaches would kill them if they did. Carl is especially big on nutrition.

Looking at the sch3dule, looks like Taylor will be first up in the 60m Hurdles 2nd heat around 6:07

Edit: sort of wrong as Jefferson leads off in the long jump. 1st after the 1st round of jumps with a PB. Top 9 advance.

Jefferson in 2nd after round 2 as the Okie State jumper passes him.

Naomi Taylor makes it to the final in the 60h with an 8.03. Makes it in as the last qualifier. Personal Best for her. Pretty good considering there were two false starts due to technical issues.

Means the Cougar women will score points tomorrow.

Jefferson now in 3rd after 3 rounds. Makes it to the finals.

Lattin should be up shortly in the 60mH in heat

Lattin finishes 5th overall and will be in the final tomorrow. Ran a 7.74 and finished 3rd in his heat.

Good lord…these ESPN announcers obviously are SEC guys. Don’t really know anything about anyone else.

Next up for the Coogs will be the 400m at 6:42. Montgomery goes in the 1st heat, Igbokwe in the 3rd.

Jefferson still in 3rd after the 4th round.

In the 5th, LSU jumper jumps into 1st, but Jefferson sets another PB jumping 1/4” shorter than the LSU kid to move into 2nd.

Montgomery with the 45.32 to win Heat 1 easily. No auto-qualifiers, just top 8 advance

Jefferson finishes 2nd in the long jump! 8 point system for the Coogs.

Huge as he wasn’t predicted to score and he also scored more than the Florida jumpers and Tech jumpers.

Igbokwe wins Heat 3 with a 46.91. Puts him in 5th so he’ll have to wait to see if he qualifies.

Hoping he makes it through as he let up at the end instead of running through.

And he does as the 8th qualifier. Lucky there.

Montgomery finishes 1st overall by .3 seconds.

Mario Burke is up next in the 60m in Heat 1 after the women run. They’re about 12 minutes behind schedule right now

Burke wins his heat in 6.57! Auto qualifies through to the finals.

Burke ends up 3rd overall.

Brianne Bethel will be up next in the 200m, scheduled for 7:37…but probably closer to 7:49. She’s also in the 4th and last Heat.
