New roster up for the Spring

Stuard, who actually played early before injuring a knee, is listed as a DB on the official roster so I’m sure he’ll be competing with Willis-Daulton at that nickel spot. It’s basically a hybrid safety/outside linebacker position so we basically play what amounts to a 3-3-5 in our base D.

Agree if anything Stuard would be possibility for Khalil NB spot but not ILB.
Thoughts on Joell Williams…was used by CMD as a blitzer from slot…and was effective…not much in coverage…so I assume his coverage skills need improvement or he would have played more. So point is…maybe he could fit that spot? Bigger than Stuard vs run. Khalil was not very good in coverage so wouldn’t be sacrificing there, but not improving either . Can’t imagine Stuard is great in man coverage…idk

Not to nitpick, but Warehime is still at Texas. Hand was hired as their 10th assistant to be Co-OC and OL coach. Looks like they will carry 2 OL coaches

Question, do we have 10 assistants? Some of the better programs load up on assistants and are successful. I don’t know if there is a strong correlation between the two, but I’d imagine the more the better. We need 4 OL coaches by this spring! lol

Maybe one is a “unpaid” assistant that gets lined up with a cush job at a booster’s company in which attendance is not required. The UT baseball team won a championship like that and didn’t even get a slap on the wrist when things came to light.

We have 8 currently because we haven’t replaced Jennings yet and haven’t hired our 10th assistant. Applewhite has said that both will be secondary coaches.

We also need an Offensive Analyst as that position is open.

I remember that. Texas never gets punished in the end.

But I did go over and check the UT Football official site (had to shower after that one); both Hand and Warehime are listed as OL coaches with Hand also being Co-OC. Reading over hiring articles, Hand was hired to be their 10th on-field assistant with no mention of him replacing Warehime.

It’s official. Darrion Owens is a Coog as a grad transfer from Miami. We’ve had quite a few grad transfers over the past few years. Some have panned out. Some haven’t. We’ll see how Owens does.

K Joel Scarbrough retired. He wasn’t a scholarship player and never saw the field, but he’s a Coog and I wish him great success.

Thanks, just assumed and did not check.

Makes sense what you had said, but I was wondering if they were going to poach someone from UH and noticed he was still there.

I think he’ll be gone next season. I think they’re keeping him around for recruiting purposes, but they’ll try to get him to find another job somewhere else.

I truly hope this young man can get his academics corrected and return to us next year.

Agree! They only thing we can hope is not only that but he still has an affinity for us if all of the vulture start coming for him. He looks like he’s really put on some size since he was first recruited. If he goes out there and really impresses people on the field, I’m sure all the big schools will be coming after him. We’ll see if there’s any loyalty there.

He was listed at 325 out of high school and our last listing had him at about 310. So his body composition changed; thanks to 2 years in our weight room, he’s not a butterball anymore.

Sorry, that’s what I meant. I was meaning muscle mass, weight to me irrelevant. It’s all about body composition.
