It’s going to be a great weekend weather wise from early forecast…football in November in Houston is tough too beat…wish I could remember name of the beer we were drinking @ USF game.

CMA said in his presser Temple plays man coverage all the time. If that’s true I feel good about this game.

Forecast looks awesome, and a 6:00 pm kickoff to boot. Will be a great tailgate to wrap up the final home Saturday of the year. I’ll finally get the opportunity for some seafood and okra gumbo at a tailgate.

the health our dline is almost paramount

literally everyone but Payton turner from our core dline is day to day…temple runs to set up the pass…

smu vs our backups at the end of the smu was painful…and smu would probably be dead last in rushing offense nationally if they didnt play an fcs game

ABOUT TEMPLE

« In its second season under head coach Geoff Collins, Temple enters Saturday at 5-4 and 4-1 in The American. After opening the season with losses to Villanova (19-17) and Buffalo (36-29), Temple picked up wins over Maryland (35-14), Tulsa (31-17), ECU (49-6), Navy (24-17) and Cincinnati (24-17) while dropping games to Boston College (45-35) and UCF (52-40).
« Temple is led offensively by senior running back Ryquell Armstead who has run for 768 yards and six touchdowns on 149 attempts in seven games played. Sophomore quarterback Anthony Russo has thrown for 1,854 yards and 13 touchdowns against 12 interceptions on 139-of-243 passing. Senior receiver Ventell Bryant leads Temple with 35 receptions for 504 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore Branden Mack leads with five touchdowns on 34 receptions for 381 yards.
« Defensively, the Owls are led by junior linebacker Shaun Bradley who has 58 tackles including three for a loss to go along with two interceptions. Senior cornerback Rock Ya-Sin is tied with Bradley with a team-best two interceptions, while senior defensive tackle Michael Dogbe leads Temple with eight tackles for loss and six sacks.
« Saturday’s matchup is the seventh meeting between the two schools with Houston winning the first six meetings including all four meetings as members of The American. It is the third matchup at TDECU Stadium between the two schools with Houston claiming a regular-season win in 2014 (31-10) and a win in The American Championship in 2015 (24-13).

This is another reason why they are poor against the run. Playing man the majority of the game your secondary is running with their backs to the line of scrimmage and it’s harder for them support against the run. QB draws and passes in the flat could hurt them. The question is do we have a healthy running back?

$10 tickets? Wow.

If Temple can establish the run the way SMU did then it could be a huge issue for UH. Oliver is greatly needed up front.

Carr is healthy and he’s been our best back this year. Chandler Smith looked decent against SMU and has the speed to get through holes. We’ve also got guys like Kelan Walker that may see more time; he’s been impressive so far in limited action.

I’ve liked Carr as well this year. I wonder why Smith hasn’t seen the field more? He looks almost as fast as Carr to me. Every time I’ve said the word “should” this season regarding the other team, we’ve lost. lol I “hope” we find many running lanes on Saturday!

They played man coverage against UCF and got torched. And Milton doesn’t have nearly as good of a long ball as King does. I hope this means we can be back to our regularly scheduled programming this week.

Yep, this will be my phrasing for the rest of the year.

The only thing that Temple does that scares me is make you earn your receptions. They give clean releases but they are rarely not around the football when the ball is in the air. I hope Briles doesn’t force the issue and tries to be as balanced as possible.
