To be fair, at least one of the Tx St pitchers (Levi Wells) was recruited by UH and had actually committed before Texas Tech flipped him. He went to Tech then transferred to Tx St. as a whole though do agree the prior assistants led by Rooney were not good recruiters (local or not).
UH also burned some bridges with some local organizations by asking / telling kids who had already committed they should go elsewhere or juco. Some of that may have been a result of COVID backing up rosters and may have been in best interest of incoming HS kids (to get playing time) but it did not land well.
