More Sharp praise from Rothstein

I think Sharpe is in the starting lineup to stay.
The key will be if our defense can stay elite with Sharpe and Cryer starting.

His commentary makes it seem like he doesn’t know it was for players likely not getting much pt

Explain that.

His comment was, our guards will get the shine & are impressive. Roberts and Francis will start and wont blow people away.

But the (3) young forwards, with time, will be studs.

Is that what hes saying?

Tugler will see big minutes this yr. The other 2, who knows. But maybe Fran has seen them enough. He likes their development so far

He is bragging about lath rebounding strength which I noted earlier myself too, but he is mentioning it in a context that he expects lath to be getting pt

Has bad was McFarland? Hopefully he doesn’t need to miss much time from training.

It look bad when it happened, had to be helped off, but he came back later in the game . So I think he is fine

Best lineup? Or name your 5…

A

B

C

D - maybe this lineup for teams w/ more size. That’s 3 of your 4s though (Arceneaux, Jwan, Tugler)

Tugler is going to,play.

A lot.:basketball:

I going to be cheeky and choose B

The ideal lineup would be 4 shooters & a big.

Thats Baylor 2021. That’s Miami last season

@Footballer13 i like option B also. If Arceneaux can rebound at a high level. This lineup may not be great defensively, with the 3 small guards. We shall see

Yeah I like the potential for Arceneaux to be a a two way player on O and D. And Jojo actuallly gives more size than J’wan and he’s looked very solid.

I can’t tell if I’m disappointed in J’wan so I rate Jojo higher but I’m really impressed by him for a Freshman in august.

I think everyone will see a very good version of J’Wan when the season starts.

I like TA but any lineup we have with him at the 4 we’re going to struggle rebounding against bigger clubs. We just will.

Any other college teams touring Australia?

Australian Stat Summary

Team shot 46% led by Mylik Wilson at 61% and serveral frontcourt players. Sharp, Dunn and Arceneaux (all below 37%) struggled.

Team shot 34% from 3FG led by Shead, Wilson and Walker at 50% and Cryer at 40%. Sharp and Dunn trailed the team average at 31% each while Arceneaux was a putrid 14%.

Team shot 74% from the FT line, but only averaged 14 FTs attempted per game. Need to drive more and draw more fouls.

Team averaged 85 points per game, led by the guards: Cryer (18.3), Sharp (14.5), Dunn (11.3), Wilson (11.0) and Shead (10.3).

Team averaged 35 rebounds a game. Here, Arceneaux shined as he led the team with 7.3 per game. Tugler was 2nd at 6 per game. Everyone else was under 4 rebounds per game, which is pretty disappointing from J’Wan Roberts at 3.7. Sharp led the guards at 3.8.

The team averaged 15 assists per game vs. 10 turnovers. Shead (4.7) and Wilson (4.0) led in assists with Cryer 3rd. Shead (14 to 1), Sharp (6 to 1) and Wilson (2.3 to 1) led in assists to turnovers, while Dunn (1 to 7) and Cryer (1 to 1) struggled a bit with ball handling.

Tugler and Wilson combined for 9 of 14 team blocks on the trip.

The team averaged 14 steals per game, led by Wilson at 2.8 per game. Roberts and Arceneaux were next at 2.0 then Shead at 1.7.

==============

Overall, very impressive performances by Wilson and Tugler. Both of these players will figure predominantly in the rotation. And Shead had a great trip.

Big shout out to Ramon Walker on shooting 77% and 1.5 steals per game. If he gets his rebounding numbers up he might earn some good PT in the frontcourt.

Among the transfers, Cryer shot better from deep and Dunn got to the FT line a lot more. Dunn disappointed as a rebounder (1.8) and a ballhandler (1 assist on the trip vs 7 turnovers, trailed all the other guards in steals per game).

Sharp is getting a lot of praise, but missed a ton of shots. At 57 shot attempts and 36 attempts from deep, he led the team in both categories. He’s a great “shooter.” Needs to become a little better “maker.”

With five guards averaging double figures and scoring 65 points per game, the backcourt looks extremely deep again.

The frontcourt is a little worriesome outside of Tugler. Roberts and Francis combined for 9 points and 7 rebounds per game and did not factor much into any of the wins. Arceneaux at the stretch four played a great floor game with 7.3 rebounds and 2 steals per game, but shot it horribly. Lath and McFarland didn’t play or contribute much. Ramon Walker is an X factor here.
