I was hopeful Coach would be playing up tempo with rotation of 12-13.
It’s been a blast seeing everyone play, and look good.
Every player is looking to make a move to score as the first option but no one is forcing any shots. Every shot is a good shot. No more slow down offense to set up an iso play with 8 seconds on the shot clock every trip down.
Coogs are not committing cheap fouls or allowing many uncontested shots, no matter which Coogs are on the floor.
Terrance Arceneaux came in the game last night or this morning and had three straight defensive stops. He also went four for four scoring, had three assists and three rebounds in six minutes.
For all the people calling for Mercy Miller In big games, Please show me the last time he came into the game and impacted the game on three straight possessions defensively.
We all know what Mercy can do on the offensive side.
But until he can consistently be counted on the defensive end, he will not be playing as much in big games.
Why are you comparing TA to Mercy for playing time? I want to see more of TA as well, as soon as he’s fully recovered from injury. What I want to see is more of Mercy and less of Wilson. While Wilson might be the more experienced defender, this is the second game in a row where he gave wide open looks to shooters.
Offensively, I would much rather see Mercy as another guard option over Wilson or Walker. Hell, Walker isn’t even looking to shoot when he’s on the floor, and Wilson just isn’t a shooter.
I’m just giving an example that people who are not really paying attention can understand.
The Concept is the same. Whether it’s Malik Or anyone else. It’s Rebounds, defense and assists.
Mercy’s not doing any of those things better than any other player that’s coming off the bench in front of him.
I mentioned TA because that was an easy example that’s fresh for everyone to see clearly .
You can pick any player you want to that’s coming off the bench in front of Mercy. Pay attention to what they’re doing without the ball or the plays they’re making for their teammates.
And I know this can be turned into mercy hate. It is not. I am a mercy fan. I cannot wait until he gets it on defense because he’s going to be a bad boy and we will see a whole lot more of him
Like any player, it is not only how many points a player scores, but how many points they give up. Focusing the offense around Miller may be great for Miller, but I question if it is good for the team.
