Field of 68, voted Houston one of its Most Disappointing Teams so far

Ouch. Feel like this rocky start willl either fuel us or break us. Hoping for the former.

LOL! I’m disappointed with a 4-3 start as well, especially having double digit 2nd half leads in all 3 of those losses. But losing to 3 very good teams by a combined 13 points very early in the season is hardly fodder for “most disappointing team.” I guess it depends on what your criteria and expectations were. I will say the chart is very aptly labeled “November Superlatives.”

I get why CKS does like play freshman, against Bama, a few times Mercy looked like a deer in the head lights. Quite a bit different level of competition going from HS to B12 with the intensity of a live game. Hopefully he can contribute in March.

I mean, yeah it’s been disappointing so far, but moreso than UCONN losing three straight to unranked teams?!

I heard Field of 68 and they even admitted UH losses were not bad. But it has been disappointing nobody has stepped up as a closer or leader yet

The exact point I made last week. Uzan is not Shead so let’s not play like he is. Time to run and gun baby :fire:

Looks like we no longer can hold all opponents below 64 points, winning with defense.

But we can score. Many good shooters.

This has been part of the transition struggle. The returners are all used to a more deliberate pace, and changing that will take some time.

I’m still not sure why the returners seem to be having rotation issues on defense, though. Hopefully it’s just early-season rust.

I think it’s rust and some adjustment to Uzan learning his style, mannerisms, and his learning curve. It’s also a bit of the returners not necessarily stepping up into the “lead dog” role of getting everyone set up.

presser for the butler game

main talking points:

  • this years team is not worse, the schedule is harder
previous teams would have been exposed at this time of year had they played the same level teams
like those previous teams this one will get better

  • the defense is there its just inconsistent and has lapses
 especially after subs

  • Losses are seen as opportunities for learning rather than setbacks

  • we are going to try and score more in transition, improve scoring more in the post, and also shooting earlier in the shot clock (adjusting to this teams strengths)

  • consistency on offense and defense is a year long process and built up in practice

  • likes early season tournaments

  • javier and other are making mistakes but it’ll improve ,

  • “young players” - need to develop discipline in defensive techniques and consistency (lol we are only playing 1 “young player”)

  • this team has to find a go-to guy or committee

  • this team could be special, we aren’t losing because we are less talented but because we are having lapses that he thinks can be fixed

I’m going to sound like a complete homer but I think we hit the point in the season where we are going to say. We figured it out after that loss. Like we did when we dropped TCU and ISU. This team has so much talent and is really deep.

I wish people would stop comparing Uzan with Shead. Different players and time in the program.

In Sampson we trust.

Right now we are 4-3.
On Jan 24th we will be headed to Kansas 15-4 and 7-0 in the Big 12.

I honestly thought we were going to get to skip the part about being exposed early in the season since almost the entire team returned from last year. I guess I was naive.

Field of 68 is not our friend. Many times they downplay our successes and love to omit us from as many accolades as they can.

Been that way for a while.
