His mom is not well. Easy to think he’d rather be closer than have regrets later.
It is one of the reasons I like both coaches.
That’s the best reason I’ve heard so far.
Diaz Fired - Cristobal to Miami.
I am going to say it here first - Cristobal will fail, just like all the others.
I don’t wish it on him, but the reality is that the U doesn’t have the gravitas it once did, and since it can no longer depend on drug money to fund payments to players, it is difficult to see how Cristobal is going to be able to convince some kid in Liberty City or Broward County to go to the U instead of Bama, UGA, Clemson, OSU, Michigan, and now, USC. That does not even include UF, UCF and FSU.
One of my best friends is a Miami grad, as is all of their siblings. They said Miami is not a very welcoming place and as such, many HS coaches in the area steer their kids to other Florida schools and even out of state schools like Clemson and Bama.
Unless Cristobal is going to tell everyone at the U to stop being bigoted a-holes, not really sure what he is going to be able to do that Shannon, Golden, Richt, and Diaz could not do.
Also, we should point out that results wise, Cristobal has been above average. He won the Rose Bowl two years ago, but his overall W-L record is 62-60.
I think the job he did at FIU was underappreciated on account of his overall record not being good, but I don’t think people appreciate that Miami is not an easy job these days.
Will King be back at Miami? Lol
Ha Ha. Yes - D’Eriq King, Grad Assistant.
Good background if you have a sub
Quick 6 minute listen.
Looks like Sonny Cumbie won’t be the HC at ULL.
This guy is:
Was named LA Tech HC in late November.
Doh!! Mixed up the Louisiana colleges.
It’s ok, AP Voters sometimes do the same.
I’m all over it and I still had to look it up.
It’s been a wild coaching round up after Covid making some schools hold off in 2020.
Please elaborate. I sincerely hope you aren’t just pointing to his sideline antics because 1/2 the coaches in America would be undesirables. Personally, I found him quite personable as did my wife. Have you ever met him?
Cristobal is overrated and underperformed while at Oregon. And…Oregon is a much better job than Miami. I think Cristobal was starting to feel a little bit of heat from alums and decided to get out while the gettin’ was sorta good.
Football-wise, I think Fickell would kill it at Oregon. Not sure how well he would recruit the PNW…but he would definitely put out a better product than what Eugene has seen over the past few years.
I suspect that Oregon gets more players from CA high schools and CA JUCOs than the PNW, but I could be wrong.
Yep. I recall someone on ESPN (maybe Keyshawn Johnson?) who said that Oregon gets a lot of recruits from SoCal and that you can see the relationship/relative success of Oregon go up as USC’s dropped.
Now that USC has Riley, I imagine a lot of schools in the PAC 12 that depended on SoCal for players are going to be in trouble.
Again just one more reason why Riley going to USC was a no-brainer.
