Last year we were ended at 48/ 58/ 33 in the 3 categories and this year we sit at 52/69/18

Every coach since the turn of the century has had a similar or better ranked class except for Applewhite.
That said, none of them had a transition class this good except for maybe Briles.

We do not have any high school or juco using 247 rankings but using their composite score we have 1 and also Platt the LB transfer from Tulane has a transfer ranking of a 4:star:
. Compared to last year we had 3 …2 high schoolers and 1 transfer
WR Koby Young was a Rivals four-star.

I asked because I noticed Alabama has 15 and Georgia has 20.
That is the top of the mountain. Is why they always are excellent.
Getting 2 or 3 each year would be almost miraculous.
Probably it’s just me, but I seem to think the 2,3 and occasional 4 star are much more aligned folks than the high 4’s and 5’s. They seem to still want to achieve and not rest on how great the sports reports say they are. Old time dedication and loyalty even enter into it on occasion-rarely these days because of NIL. Coogs seem to have done well with these guys, hope the trend continues.
The ship has sailed comments are a little lame, especially if you take the time to think about how Willie has done this.
For high school, by and large, this is a combination of Dana’s class and Willie’s Tulane class so the ship had sailed for the most part on both but we added Willie’s Tulane class. That being said, he’s pulled a couple to a few that neither Tulane or Dana would have gotten.
By all accounts, if we are honest with ourselves, we knew Dana and staff were going to hit the portal hard. His staff had already put out a ton of offers before Willie got here.
Did he get recruits Dana and co. would not have gotten? Sure, a few. There are a few Dana might have gotten that Willie didn’t. There is probably some overlap between the two as well.
So again, this portal class is a combination of Tulane’s and Dana’s.
For HS, we benefitted by hiring someone that brought a number of relationships with him. For the portal, who knows what Dana and the same OL and DL coach would have gotten.

Even though msn had a story on the MSU TE with 30 receptions and a B1G player of the week award committing to UH…he’s also not on our 247 list. I’m guessing we’d go up a notch or two in the rankings if he were added!

Nah, man… Coach will land at least 3 from the HS ranks next year (c/o 2025).
He took over the UH job late on this current recruiting class cycle. But next year’s class he’ll have over a year on the job.

Yep I’m expecting no less than three 4 stars.
Don’t care how many come in as four stars. Just so long as the majority play like four stars on the field.

Dana, the lazy bozo, would have brought in 7 high school recruits because at least one out of his 8 high school commitments would have changed their mind and then he would fill the roster with a bunch of leftover portal guys that couldn’t find any other Power4 schools that want them. Some of these guys would probably be guys that no good G5 schools want them either! We would then rank dead last among the Power4 schools in recruiting and probably rank among the average G5 schools in recruiting, which would put us somewhere in the 130’s in recruiting! Man oh man, did Fritz save us or what!

I noticed that we jumped from 52 to 51 with Carr added to our list on 247.
He sure has!
15 total commitments include:
5 Dana commits
3 Tulane flips
2 juco olinemen
5 new hs commits
As a matter of fact, according to 247 4 of our top 5 rated commits weren’t committed to UH or Tulane when CWF was hired!!!
Remember there’s still one more signing period to go…
But the ship has sailed!!!

Only 12 HS recruits. The rest are jucos and transfers.
But I think that’s more the norm these days. There are less D1 opportunities for HS kids with so many coaches filling roster spots with transfers.
Used to be, 350 Texas HS kids would sign D1 each year. Now I wonder if it’s more like 250.
