Dana just had such a weird viewpoint on what makes a “P5” player.
Dana just wanted to get any guy he could from a P5 school. We have had a lot of guys come from p5 schools under Dana and not do squat here, even when we were in the AAC. But when you actually look at it most of those “p5” guys he got were 2nd and 3rd string guy. There is nothing wrong with taking some talented young guys who just haven’t played because they are young. But you can’t build your team off that.
I won’t name names but we have signed almost 20 P5 players over the last 3 years that haven’t done much of anything for us. That’s awful evaluating/developing.
Give me the best player on a G5 school all day over a P5 backup

I will define it as outstanding. It defines the man. Pedal to the metal from day one. This shows to us that we are pushing the launch pad. When we get the Coogs Rockets ready watch out friends.
I only see two possible obstacles to stop us from the winning a National Championship.

We did ok in the portal. Not great…ok. The important thing is that we didn’t whiff on OL like we did last year and as KMoney pointed out, we got experienced starters vs. mid to high potential backups
vs. Big 12 only. rank is overall rank at the position in the portal, not overall in the portal

I’m hoping the offensive line will be better. Hurts to lose Paul, but I’m not sure every other position couldn’t improve. Freeman was okay at center, but Harris has a lot of potential. Jenkins should be a little better after another year of experience, and we have about 4 tackles from the Portal or juco ranks to choose from. I’m guessing that Melton will start at RT. Maybe Dakota White at LT but hard to say. We could use an interior lineman when the portal reopens.

Thing about the spring portal for me is, how much movement could there be?
Without a season of performance for other programs to evaluate,
or significant interactions with new coaches to turn a recruit off to their new/current program,
what would be the driver to make changes? Maybe a final hole or two?
